Congress Square, Balvanera Neighborhood, Buenos Aires - Street Photography.

DSC_0293_1 (1).jpg

When I started with street photography I used to look for emblematic places to take photos, after a while I have been to other areas of different neighborhoods trying other, more urban themes, less touristy and in that process achieved results of all kinds. A couple of days ago I returned to the Balvanera neighborhood, it was a cloudy day, it had rained and more rain was expected during the day.

There was a small break in the weather, it stopped raining and I went to the Congress Square, I knew that it was an attractive combination of that gray setting with that place, the architecture of the different buildings in the area and above all the congress palace of the Argentine nation.

In these first two photos I tried to capture the building from the same angle but with different focus points. In the first photo we have this majestic building in focus while in the second photo the focus is on the floor, on the tiles. A shot from a low angle.

I was right in front of the palace in this shot, I took some photos of people walking down the avenue with this rainy day atmosphere. I also wanted to play with the editing for this type of street photography, where the lighting is low in some cases, very subdued tones and the replacement of colors with similar ones.

People crossing the avenue, walking along the pedestrian crossings and some taxis in the background make for an interesting composition, especially because the taxis have yellow/orange tones.

This is a fragment of the structure of one of the bus stops in front of the national congress, a detailed photo of the signs that indicate the number of the bus that stops there, In this case it is 12 and 150.

From another angle, from one of the corners of the square, take advantage of a small puddle to try to take a different shot.

I have already mentioned previously some aspects and characteristics of this building, its use and some interesting topics related to its architecture. I can emphasize that construction began in 1898, it has a neoclassical style, its dome measures approximately 80 meters and is the highest in the city.

The city is full of buildings with incredible architectural styles, many are worth admiring, Many of these buildings also have domes of different styles and sizes, but without a doubt the one that is most surprising is that of this national congress building.

A closer photo of this dome to better appreciate some details, reliefs and sculptures. I also read that the style of this dome belongs to the Italian academicism of the 19th century, the same century in which its construction began, although it was inaugurated in 1906 but could be completed in its entirety at the end of 1940.

An interesting fact, and I think I have mentioned it before, is that this dome was originally gray, but as time went by it adopted this greenish tone.

It's very interesting to walk through this place and take some photos of the landscapes, the people in their daily lives, details, streets, urban planning. Everything is very attractive to the eye and it is one of the places highly visited by tourists. The only unfortunate thing is that it is honestly a very unsafe area, due to crime.

I took most of the photos walking back and forth in Congress Square, a square in front of the palace.

You can appreciate these last photos of passersby and if you look closely you can also see the architecture and buildings in the background. I hope you like this article ;)

Wow! This for all very beautiful shots and I enjoyed viewing all of them. I and fascinated by the depth of field if any of your photos have. I think they help me focus on the subject that you want to showcase in each of the images.

Now, I’m already looking forward to reading your next post about your street photography. Have a great day ahead!
