Book review: Anxious People 🔖🤍🍀
Hey there, book lovers! Today I want to share my thoughts on "Anxious People" by Fredrik Backman. This is my second attempt at Backman's world after falling in love with "A Man Called Ove," Let me tell you, it did not disappoint!
First, let me talk about how Backman has this magical ability to turn the most unlikely situations into something amazing? In "Anxious People," we've got a failed bank robbery that turns into a hostage situation involving the most random group of people you can imagine. Sounds like a plan for a joke? But trust me, there’s so much more.
What really impressed me about this book was how Backman goes deep into each character. You start thinking you’ve figured them all out, but as the story unfolds you realize there’s more underneath. It’s like looking in a mirror and seeing little details of yourself reflected in each one. I found myself alternating between laughing hard and feeling a lump in my throat as I recognized my anxieties in these characters.
The way Backman weaves the lives of these strangers together is amazing. It’s a reminder that we’re all connected in ways we can’t even imagine and that our actions, no matter how small, can have ripple effects on others. There were times when I had to put the book down just to deal with the depth of human relationships it portrayed.
Compared to "A Man Called Ove," I found "Anxious People" a little... well, stressful. The story jumps around a bit, which is a little confusing at first, but then it starts to make sense. Backman has managed to address heavy issues like tension, loneliness, and human want really well One minute I became chuckling at the absurdity of a scenario, and the next moment I was teary-eyed.
No doubt, "A Man Called Ove," remains my favorite. If you cherished "A Man Called Ove," I suppose you will respect the Backman's writing here too. While "Ove" stole my heart with its grumpy-antique-guy-with-a-heart-of-gold tale, "Anxious People" feels more mature. It's like Backman is saying, "Hey, lifestyles can be messy and complex, and that's fine"
So, would I suggest "Anxious People"? Wholeheartedly, yes! It's the kind of book that stays with you for a long. It'll make you laugh, it will make you cry, and most importantly, it will make you look at strangers a bit differently.
Let me know, what you guys think of it💜
Till then, goodbye💫
