A day of Clay: Attending clay modelling and pottery workshop💗✨☕

(Edited)

Last weekend I got to scratch that creative itch I’ve been feeling for so long. My friend and I decided to venture into the world of clay, and boy, what an experience! We signed up for a clay painting and pottery workshop at a studio in Hauz Khas, New Delhi(India) named Chalkboard. The staff was very welcoming. Here are the pictures of the studio.

Also the Hauz Khaus is a pretty area too. Here are the photos.

The day began with staff giving the overview, what we are going to do today. For first half we are going to do the clay modelling, he mentioned and handled us the clay. Now, I’m no Micheo be langelo, but I was determined to create something interesting. As soon as the teacher said we could do whatever we wanted, i was quite unsure at the start to be honest, i opened my creative inspiration app yeah its Pinterest always. Looked for ideas, changed ideas multiple times then i stopped on **minion cute yellow creatures **from Despicable Me. Yes, I was going to be a minion!

Let me tell you, that little guy was harder than I thought. At first my fingers were all nuts, and my minion looked more like mashed potatoes. But as I kept working, squishing and smoothning the clay, it started to get better. The googly eyes were the hardest part - I almost blinded my own eyes trying to get it right! But in the end, there was a wonky but cute minion smiling at me. Not too easy going for the first time, if I do say so myself!

After first half, we headed to the pottery area. This is where things got really messy - it was really fun. My friend and I each claimed a potter’s wheel, ready to channel our inner Patrick Swayze from the Spirit. The instructor showed us how to place the clay on the disc, and then it was our turn.

I'll be honest, my first attempt at making a cup looked more like a pancake. The clay kept wobbling off-center, and I ended up with more clay on my hands than on the wheel. My friend wasn't doing much better - we kept catching each other's eye and bursting into giggles. But with some patient guidance from the instructor (and a lot of trial and error), we started to get the hang of it.

Slowly but surely, my lump of clay began to resemble a cup. It wasn't perfect at all - but it was mine. I felt ridiculously proud as I smoothed the edges and added a touch. My friend's cup also turned out to be pretty cute. Here are the pictures.

At the end of the day we were covered in mud, our hair was a mess, and we couldn’t help but be shocked. My minion and my cup may not win any prizes, but they are perfect for me. I thought to paint them as soon as i reach home. It is still pending tho. They sit on my shelf now, and remind me of a day filled with laughter, creativity and the excitement of trying something new.

If you’ve ever thought about giving clay modeling or pottery a shot, I say do it! Messy, challenging, but above all, an absolute blast. Who knows what? You might just discover a hidden talent - or at least end up with a unique creative piece for your home!

Let me know, what you guys think of it💜
Till then, goodbye💫
