Use Bloodlust Properly during Melee Mayhem

Alright, we are back to my Splinterlands post, and as usual, this is my routine Splinterlands Battle Mage Secrets challenge. Same as the last one, we still have this "MELEE MAYHEM" as our theme today.

if you read what the official post said:

I am intrigued with the words: PRIME USE CASE FOR MELEE UNITS WITH BLOODLUST. That's sentence make me want to try using that approach, regarding I rarely use that approach. ok let's see our battle then

THE BATTLE

~Click The Image Above To See the Full Battle~

OK this battle was a life vs life element, both of us using FRANZ RUFFMANE as our summoner. Both of us although using different meta, in term of setting the line up, we did a similar approach. Our main unit was placed on the backline, while we have some small unit in front.

OK back to the bloodlust, I brought two bloodlust units here:

JARED SCAR

image.png

This was a Legendary reward card. 5 Melee damage and a bloodlust, of course Jared Scar would be the force to reckon in any battle becauses he could easily kill any units and he would easily got buffs from those kills.

MARISOL CONTUMA

image.png

The main reason why I used FRANZ RUFFMANE as my summoner was to get a gladius card available into my line up. My pick was this great dude, Marisol Contuma. He was similar to Jared Scar, having 5 melee damage which made him easily kill anyone and easily able to get buffs from those kills.

What made Marisol more dangerous were his speed, 5 speed, which almost guarantee him to move first and he was sturdy. 4 armors and 8 health points, definitely you would not be able to kill him easily.

This was how the battle progressed

image.png

  • The battle started with both of us buffing up our team and debuffing our opponents. My team was all about Melee here, we used 3 anti magic tank in front. My opponent came with some combination, but their main attacking force was magic.
  • My opponent had 5 melee damage, 1 range damage and 7 magic damage. Combined all they became `2 damage per round.
  • My team had `9 melee damage per round. With this attacking force, I could eliminate any opponent tanks easily.
  • However the battle started not with the way I wanted. My 5 speed Marisol Contuma missed his first attack, that 2 speed Chaos Agent dodged him. What a luck there.

image.png

  • My opponent could keep up with me on the first round due to my MArisol missed attack.
  • And again, this time my Stitch Leech missed his target. the 2 speed sneak attacker missed his 1 speed target due to Adelade Brightwing fly ability.

image.png

  • With two missed attacks on the first two round, my opponent managed to build up momentum. They started to lead the third round. It's 5 vs 4 now.
  • Overall my team won the third round.

image.png

  • Although my team stole the third round, it looked everything was too late. Their Captain Katie had built up her strength from killing my units.

  • Round 5 was the last one. Good Game

CLOSURE AND DISCUSSION

My curiosity made me lost this battle. By the time my bad luck gone, my hits started to land, their Captain Katie had grown too strong for my team to fight her back.

Who could hold up 8 magic damage from Captain Katie?

Ok back to the words that drew out my curiosity:

PRIME USE CASE FOR MELEE UNITS WITH BLOODLUST

Sorry, but I think this battle shows us that it is not the prime use case for Melee Units with bloodlust. This battle was indeed dominated by bloodlust ability users, the Captain Katie... However she was not a melee unit.

Melee units indeed get massive boost during this ruleset, but to say the prime use case is an exaggeration. Splinterlands is not a shallow game, my opponent here showed that they broke out and came out from the box developing a magic based team to counter a team of melee units.

If I could replace a unit in my line up, I would get rid that Stitch Leech and replace him with Vulguine. Vulguine hit weaker, but atleast it could make my attack more focused on one single spot, their main tank.

again... This is not a prime use case for melee units with bloodlust!!

Anyway that's all for my battle mage secret post today, see you guys again on Splinterlands battlefields!!
