My First Epic Rebellion Soulbound Card - And Her First Win

Howdy there

Welcome to another of my Slinterlands weekly post. I make Splinterlands posts every week, whether as a challenge requirement or it's just for fun.

Today is the new season day, we just had the end of season a few hours earlier. The last season was quite hard for me, because I could only play Splinterlands for about 9 to 10 days from 15 days of the seasons. One thing that made me happy earlier was... My glint was more than enough to get me the first EPIC soulbound reward card form the shop!!

image.png

I had 125.218 Glint Balance and I was going to spend them on the reward shop

image.png

I could get 1 Gold Foil Epic and that was my main goal for this season. I wanted to have my first epic soulbound reward card available right after the reset would be done. I play GF fray for my guild, so I do not see any necessity to get regular foil reward cards, I had some before but later on they were useless. Getting normal draws and expect my luck will be flourishing in getting Gold Foils have proven not working well.

So here comes my first EPIC reward card for this Rebellion reward set

I have got Thanalorian Blade here. I do not know whether I should be happy or having a flat face here. This is my first epic card, I should cherish her due to this "historical" event.

to be honest I was expecting one of these cards:

It is not because Thanalorian Blade is bad, or less than those two, it's just that I don't have any idea what meta I should play with to exploit Thanalorian Blade prowess. Kha'zi Conjurer would definitely blend well with my existing meta, and Olivia of the brook would the best fit for my meta... I mean all my life meta.

I believe all cards are no better and no less toward each other, so I would try to learn more using non-magic Earth Element meta. Let's hope in the next few weeks I will start buzzing about how great is Thanalorian Blade.

Meanwhile... I try a few battle with her and let me share you my thought about it...

HIGHLIGHTED BATTLE

I have got some battles using Thanalorian Blade, but most of them ended as loses. At least I got a couple of win and let me share you one of them here:

~Click The Image Above To See the Full Battle~

Hmmm this battle is a bit weird, because none of us use a magic focus meta which is the trademark for Earth Element. I even had some feeling that my opponent wanted to get some battle using Katrelba Gobson, maybe he wanted to make some post like me too.

So here are some keys of my strategy

  1. I used Underboss Fabino, he buffed +2 melee damage and I hope this could show Thanalorian Blade prowess in this battle.
  2. I brought Queen Mycelia because I needed her protect ability which gave +2 armor to all her team mates. This was essential against some melee units.
  3. I put Mycelic Morphoid behind, to kill a sneak melee attaacker.
  4. Overall, I would let Thanalorian Blade and Venari Scout to find their own target using double Opportunity Attacks. I could it double because both of them had the same speed, so they would move right after each other.

Ok let's see how this would go

image.png

  • The battle started with both side buffing their team and debuffing their opponent.
  • They came with 8 Melee damage and 2 magic damage, which made a combined 10 damage per round. Their Katrelba Gobson still had a double strike there.
  • My team had 13 Melee damage and 1 magic damage. So we had a combined 14 per round. Definitely my team would hit harder than them.
  • Their Katrelba Gobson died instantly due to Mycelic Morphoid thorn damage. What a bum

image.png

  • My team damage per round soon created a big gap, within a round we wiped out 4 of their units.
  • with these two units remaining, I believed the battle was over.

image.png

  • But they were so lucky, they made a cliff hanger situation with 1 health remaining. What a waste of time, however I should say Good Game as the closing.

Overall I could say Underboss Fabino might be a better summoner for Thanalorian Blade, however as a team, that leaves me a big question mark... Whether overall as a team it is better with Thanalorian Blade or maybe I just focus with Obsidian full magic force.

It Seems Not Working Well - Need To Change Meta

Honestly, I am not happy with that battle. Yes I win, but Thanalorian Blade role in that battle is easily replaceable with other unit. I have got around 5-6 battles with Thanalorian Blade and I won only twice and that battle was the better one. The other one I won with my opponent coming with very clumsy line up.

image.png

But I try to see the positive side here. Recently we have this Underboss Fabino as the new Earth Element summoner, and we see he doesn't buff any Magic attack. I think the Earth Element as Magic focused meta, lead by Obsidian, has ended here. Sooner or Later I need to learn to build up Earth Meta which do not rely on any magic attack.

image.png

Under Boss Fabino influence, I could get these two units look dangerous. However let's be fair here, they are not lethal. They are slower than Deepluerker, or a fellew earth Gladiator, Katrelba Gobson.

image.png
If Underboss Fabino buffs Katrelba Gobson, she could easily deliver 5x2=10 damage per round... from a single unit, herself... That's what I call lethal!!!

So yeah... I am happy today but not so much happy because I haven't figured out how to exploit Thanalorian Blade prowess... yet... So what do you any idea or some input for me about how to explout this card?

I am not ruling her out yet because I believe after chaos legion replaced by the new edition, we might have some card that can connect well with Thanalorian Blade. Anyway that's for today post, Do share your thought in the comment secition below. Thanks for coming and have a blast in Splinterlands Battles!!

Great analysis! Yes, there are few szenarios that call for the blade. I like that it gets lookout at level three - place the blade next to a "Taunt" monster in rulesets like equal opportunity or the sneak/snipe-for all and you'll get some serious damage reduction, while be able to heavily attack the enemy - Execution can be very helpful!

thank's for your feedback. that gives me some idea about what line up I could try on higher mana cap battles.

nah, I am just another casual player here. I don't like spending big, although I see nothing wrong with that, so I prepare everything before so I can spend my money on budget.

I have played this game for more than 3 years, some people have played for a lot longer time.
