How My Season Ended And I Got A Good Level Up Meriput Slinger

image.png

Hello There

Welcome to my weekly Splinterlands Post. We just have a end of season day, a point when a season is set up and a new one restarts from zero. A season lasts around half of a month, sometime 16 days, sometime 15 days. So how much do I get anyway?

image.png

I have got around 720 SPS from battle rewards, this includes what I got from brawls. Of course this is not impressive regarding I do not play Splinterlands everyday. During weekdays especially when the workload is too heavy, I do not play Splinterlands. Let say I am trying to keep my work-life well balance there.

And I am not a heavy spender here on Splinterlands. so I really one of the living proof that you don't have to invest big and get massive pressure just to make money on Play To Earn games, well maybe not all game, but Splinterlands allow you to play casually and earn some rewards.

For Glint, I have earned 28.198 as end season rewards. I decide to spend these on getting Gold Foil cards, and I can get two Gold Foil Rare draws now:

Let see what cards I get ere:

Well I get Meriput Slinger and Commander Slade. This is awesome for me, because I have enough gold foil copy of Meriput Slinger to put him up level.

Ok now I have level 4 Gold Foil Meriput Slinger in my selection. I believe all soulbound cards are super strong, so this one should be too. However some of my friend believe this card is not special, too many simialirities with Dhampir Stalker here:

image.png

Well, I don't think so. I can understand if people see them as the same. They both are range unit with same range damage and speed.

To make my point clear, let me share you a battle about Meriput Slinger now.

HIGHLIGHTED BATTLE

This is the battle I pick, against @logen9f . I know this guy is pretty active in SBT discord, and I hope he doesn't mind I tag him here.

We have this new ruleset, Need of Speed

untitled.gif

I feel like being asked to play an old racing game. Definitely every units on the battlefield are speedy fast. In this situation Earth Element is a big gambling, because their signature units there mostly are slow.

So the best deal here is actually going with Quix The Devious. He will debuff opponent speed, however I want to surprise my opponent here So I choose to go with Thaddeus Brood.

However things look ugly on the first time. Thaddius debuff -1 magic damage, and only Iziar on my opponent side who suffered from it. Meanwhile their quix -1 range damage manage to debuff two of my units. So again, their summoner Quix The Devious obviously is better in this battle.

let's see how this would go

image.png

  • The battle started with both side buffing their magic attacks... As I said above, definitely my opponent had an upper hand from the summoner pick, However my Meriput Slinger Slow ability made it equal.
  • They came with 7 Melee damage, 2 range damage and 2 magic damage, combined those attacks, they had 11 damage per round.
  • My team had 8 Melee damage, 4 range damage, and 1 magic damage, so our team had a total 13 damage per round.
  • Look! Amazingly my team was the faster one. We could thank Meriput Slinger and Supply Runner for this one.

image.png

  • Round 1 was a total disaster for them, my team swept off two of their units. 4 vs 6 at this point, it's hard for them to make a comeback move.
  • I noticed their Olivia of The Brook started to mimic, luckily we shut her down this round

image.png

  • 2 vs 4 at this point, I believed with their total health point which was 3, it's already game over for them.

image.png

  • Well they manaaged to add one more round, but this was the end. Good Game

So basically we can say from this battle that:

  1. Meriput Slinger Slow ability helped a lot. Supply runner could help that too, he should be credited for his swiftness right? However I believed my opponent was surprised not expected that they would lose in a speed contest even they had used Quix The Devious.
  2. I noticed Olivia The Brook Mimic Ability. It was awesome, but too bad she died or killed too soon before she started became Quora Towershead-like, which became ridiculously strong as the battle progressed.

Ok maybe I should set my eyes on this card, Olivia. I hope I could acquire her next season, who knows?

Ok that's all for today Splinterlands post, see you next time guys... and don't forget to wish me luck for my brawls with this Meriput Slinger!!

Hi, nice win for you. It was my first time using a level 2 Olivia the Brook and you spoiled it 😅

I also thought the Meriput Slinger is similar to the Dhampir Stalker in terms of damage but I like his abilities better. I stopped renting Dhampir when I got the Meriput Slinger. I have mine at level 3 and I want him at level 4 soon!

Dhampir seems useless recently when people start to leave Coeurl Lurker and other evasive tank recently, preferring on thorny tofu

Dhampir saved me one time because of its Deathblow ability but this is very niche and situational. I find Slinger's ability far more useful.
