The Remarried Empress (Review)

I started reading comics in 2019 or so. I was and still a big Romance/Fantasy fan when it comes to comics, especially when it has to do with strong lead females. Reincarnation, revenge, and many more are my likes and preferred plots. I used to be on Webcomics a lot and would do some tasks to earn coins to be enable me read those on the paid program or I would just stick to the free ones. I came across Mission Diversion on Webcomics that I would find was discontinued. Then after two years of waiting, I will find that is was brought back but on a different platform called WebToons.

Soon after, I would stumble on this comic called The Remarried Empress. I had no idea we could talk about comics until I read on a review about one and so, here is me giving it a shot.

About & Plot

The Remarried Empress is a Fantasy Webtoon Original written by Alphatart, adapted by HereLee and art by Sumpul. It is centered on Navier, from the Trovi Family renowned for providing great and noteworthy Empresses in the Eastern Empire. Navier is betrothed to Sovieshu, Emperor of the Eastern Empire, from birth. It helps that they both grew up as friends, which is one of the reasons why Navier never expected the divorce. This comic centers on all events that led up to the divorce, after the divorce and plot twists that even I did not see coming.

The Comic began by introducing the coming of Rashta, who is the catalyst to the whole turn of events between Navier and Sovieshu. Sovieshu would be taken with Rashta and her naïve ways. She, unlike the Empress, is “weak”, innocent, and needs him. Now, that does not mean that Navier is cold-hearted and without need but she has put up an exterior befitting an Empress. She is the face of her Nation and a close reflection of her husband, the Emperor; as such, her actions are premeditated, calculated and organized. She is not just an adornment but also an asset within the Empire.

All this we would get to see clearly as the plot progresses and the new love interest, Heinrey, King of the Western Kingdom would appear.

What I think about the characters

Honestly, there was visible character development in this comic. Some for the best, others for the worst. Sovieshu decided to become a grade A arsehole and Navier had to choose between the man she loved and who she was meant to be.

Navier is the embodiment of most modern women in today’s world who are not appreciated because they are not complacent enough. They have too strong of a will and this puts them off most circles. However, I do wonder, does the fact that Navier is more expressive with Heinrey mean that she truly did not love Sovieshu enough, or is Heinrey just more aware and accepting of her person to make us the readers feel that way?

As you read, you will feel both anger and disdain for the man Sovieshu becomes. Arrogant, dismissing, ungrateful. He is so “smart” that he put together a plan regarding human lives and moves but guess what happened. It totally backfired and hence, the birth of The Remarried Empress.

The Art

From the pictures above, I think you can tell already what the art is like and how very immersing it is. Expressive and very vivid in its narrations. You would hardly get confused because even when there are flashbacks and told stories from history, there is a very definitive line that separates past from present. Nothing excites me more than well-presented art in comics and/or animes.

Conclusion

If you are a comic fan (especially Romance/Fantasy), I recommend this comic. You can find it on WebToons. Even if you are not but are willing to try this out, I recommend too. It is a solid 8/10 for me. There are currently 3 Seasons and it seems that the update has resumed from its previous hiatus. It updates weekly and trust me when I say it is good!
