The need to look closely at what youths pay attention to these days is increasing and it's sad how much they are neglected and left to their own devices. The truth is, the world has become utterly and totally selfish.
We tend to easily forget that the people we see each day on our way to work are humans too. Those who work under us have blood pumping in their veins too. I also forget which is what inspired what you are reading right now.
On my way to work this morning, I took the time to really look at what is going on around me. I took in the difference in shapes, sizes and heights of the people. I also let my mind wander a bit, thinking about what could possibly be their problem. We can't always guess people's problems and even if we do, can we solve them?
This action prompted a swell of gratitude from within me because I really did see the world around me. I don't think I've ever felt as loved as I did today but I digress...
A lot of propositions, distractions and immoral tendencies seems to be the drive for our youths. What is more disheartening is that the idols our youths look upto don't do anything to help. There are useless quotes flying around and depression is seen as the new fashion among youths.
Songs that promote suicidal tendencies, apathy and dual-personality is now the new norm. Many of our youths are given the myself mentality without letting them see the consequences. A selfish man is a powerless man ruled and enslaved by his own greed. His eyes are closed to the worries and cares of others except him. Typically, a selfish man is a weak man.
This is something that our youths don't know. The trend now is not to love. Do not be a good person. Chase more money and burn relationships. It's more heartbreaking when I see this among Nigerian youths. It takes a strong man to bare himself to the world even when he risks getting hurt.
The funny thing is, most of these shouters and naysayers never experienced the pain that comes with a broken heart. Youths these days are so hung up on getting love rather than giving it and then they blame the world for not giving enough when they haven't even tried.
It's rather ridiculous how one individual can influence the public to the point they pay to be fed with negativity. It's also preposterous that they have right information and wisdom for free in a whole book– the Bible.
Yes I said it. The world is darker now. Than ever. It's in a Nigerian's blood to hustle, to work and to find greener lands. Yet, the pattern that we may be adopting towards this is what may cause our downfall. Influential people from other continents, especially Europe, have admitted to Nigerian's being the ones gifted with the third eye. The spiritual Eye.
There's a reason we always conquer when we arrive and a reason why we instigate so much prejudice. No good thing ever comes easy and good people face great critics.
It'll be a total disaster for Nigerian youths to fall at this time. To give in to these destructive doctrines and forget their origin. It breaks my heart when all young people see is all that is wrong and how they receive less.

Nhmmmm! This is a sad reality indeed. Whatever happened to good meaning good and not bad meaning good now. The opposite of everything good is what the youths are chasing after now. No one wants to labour like our heroes past. No one believes honesty is the best policy now. You made it is what they care not the way you made it. No one questions the process anymore. Everyone is after the result and then you wonder why moral decadence is on the increase with each generation born. Trouble times are here and if we don't nib this on the bud then years to come, I wonder what morals we would have left

Bang, right on it! I really felt sad when I was reading your post. Don't get me wrong, I admire your attitude and you're brave to speak out loud. I see this problem in the whole world. Adolescents always want want want ... Now and more. I was brought up with values and if I wanted something I had to work or save for it. No discussion. I really hope that one day their eyes will open and they start being positive and caring towards other people. Let's stay positive!!!

Reading this, virtually captures all that is happening now which will get harder with everyday passing by.
