Order: Who are we for?
We are in a very sensitive time. Nigeria keeps taking hits and blows that render her powerless. She's no longer on the offense but Defense and she's failing at it.
Let's take sometime to look over the condition of our country and the people in it. I want you to do something with that microscopic eyes of yours. Take the time to go down, all the way to the roots!
Today, Let's talk Order!
We have various men who live by order; literally and figuratively of course. We have our men of Arms and then the Civilians who run multimillion companies. Both are different in careers and yet so similar in the way they operate. How so? You may ask.
Well let's look at Civilians who run multimillion companies.
For one, they are leaders. They rely on instinct and practical knowledge. Which means they are learners that hone their talent; weaving it into something more. This is also something similar with the Men of Arms.
They might have to attend special classes and go through gruelling trainings but Instinct is something they can't shake off. Practical knowledge too. These go hand in hand for both categories.
Then we have amplification. In every organization, there's what we know as promotion. This is recognizing the hardworking and efficient workers, lifting them up. This also pushes for healthy competition and boost in moral. I would like to think that is what happens in the Military too. Maybe a certain Hiver (Who's name would not be mentioned but reads this because I'll make sure they do) could share a light on that.
You might be wondering what my aim is here. Why contrast two different Systems. Simple. I want to really scrutinize one.
At the beginning of the post, I mentioned Nigeria. So definitely, I'm writing this post for a reason other than simply sharing. Many of you already know how taken I am with my country and how much I love to put the words in my head in writing.
Some say after the dog, who's loyal to his master, comes the soldier who's loyal to his country. I can't help but question this because is he really loyal to his country and it's people or to his superior and his pocket?
Many would already understand the reason behind this question because testimonies keep coming in about how many Soldiers (in Nigeria) are being laid to rest, taken before their time due to useless Orders.
I learned that in the Military, the commanders' (or is it captain) words are final. He says jump, you say how high? He says run, you reply how fast? Failure to comply spells harsh consequences. Which means, these men at the top are actually responsible for the lives of the people. The safety of the state. They are the brains that do the work. Which means they have to be selfless, brave, empathetic and mentally capable.
But are they? Sadly, Not in my country and it breaks my heart. Instead of saving lives, they destroy for things that won't matter in the end. Lives being lost because they are looking out for their interest.
Just imagine if a Civilian does this with his company that houses over 1,000 workers. It would crash sooner or later! What more a whole country!
I know many won't see and read this post. Just how many Men of Arms would actually read this? Still, I do what I love.
Yes you are answerable to your superior. Yes you are answerable to the state. But don't forget, you're also answerable to God.
You go out to face bandits and territorists, you are asked to lose your life for a worthless cause. You are given instructions to apprehend. Apprehend what? Men who are constantly on a rapid fire? Men who wouldn't surrender? Evil conspirators who are out to devour your country?
I don't think so!
Orders are orders. Yet Life is what matters. Truth is what reigns. The darkness can only last a night.
Men of Arms, above all else, stand with the truth. You don't give reprobate individuals the leverage over you. After everything, the bitter truth is they'll dispose of you when they no longer need you.
Remember you are loyal to your country. Not to their pockets. Use your conscience. Many would rise with the talk of PTSD, I know. But everyman, has a conscience. God put it there. And they know right from wrong. They know good from bad which is why they'll not escape final judgement.
All in all, I stand with my country and loyal to her alone. I will stand with genuine men who put her interests first and pray for peace as I go.

Always obey an order and don't question your superior is the general norm of a soldier. The problem of course arises when those superiors then do not have the country's best interests at heart.
Let's hope something changes for the good in Nigeria soon.
It will. I do feel it. I just feel bad when these men loose their lives to the hands of greedy and wicked men.
yes it has been like this for centuries though:(
Every soldier is has the first will to serve their country, but now as you have asked, are they serving their country? Or what they do is to jump into every command given by the superior, wether suitable or not suitable. And life is at stake.
I just pray that our life does not not out us in a place where there is no choice than to face danger.
I'm sure that soon, genuine men would rise to the task. Nigeria is facing a dark time but she'll rise again.
She will indeed rise.
Amen.
