Drawn to Rocky plains (LOH #196)

Sturdy. Rocky. Crisp. Clouds. Sounds. Sight.

There are a lot of things that draws me to the sights of mountains and rocks. I don’t think I’ve ever officially seen a mountain before (apart from online) but I have traveled enough to come across rocks and hills. Beautiful plains and fields decorated by natures’ very hands.

On my first trip out of Kaduna to another state for work, we passed certain places and villages surrounded by hills and trees. Beautiful rice farms that looked almost surreal to me with the backdrop of the curvy hills in the distance. I tried to capture my sights, through my camera but I wasn’t good enough or my camera wasn’t.

My head would spin from stories and fictions of the houses I saw built on the rocks. There was a call to me every single time I looked towards the hills. It was serene and so beautiful that my heart would ache.

I love traveling and I love the smell of the road. I also love the scenic routes we’d take despite knowing that danger could be lurking. It was always a site to my eyes.

I haven’t been to a real mountain yet or even climbed one. But from my reaction to these little hills and rocks around me, I can tell that I’m a mountain person. Rare sites where the clouds kissed the earth and grey skies accompanied by chilly wind. It’s always bliss.

I love the road. If I were to have my way, I’d travel by road. There are just so many wonders on the journey that leaves you reeling at the grandness of this thing we call nature. She’s real and it shows in the skies, the land, the wind and water.

The beauty that surrounds her majesty can’t be explained. And just like her Maker, she is surrounded by a great deal of energy that speaks to your soul and heals it. She is like paint on a canvas, only limited by our views and thoughts. Even with the dust, and unheavenly sights, she still dazzles my brain with the little she bestowed upon us.

Why am I so drawn to rocky plains? Why do I feel my heart pound when I look at nature’s steel? Why does it make me feel blessed? The truth is I don’t know. I haven’t been to the ocean either. So I can’t say if this is a reaction to what I have or what I prefer. Maybe I will see the waves of the ocean and my heart would burst with poems of awe. Maybe I experience the calm and my soul will rest at the feet of peace. Or maybe I will experience the storm and my mind attacked with the sight of fearsome power.

I don’t know. Not yet. What I do know is how much I love to be on the road and see these sights. How endearing they are to my heart. How the meaning I attribute to them makes me want to go even closer.

Sturdy. Rocky. Crisp. Clouds. Sounds. Sight. Smell…

I remember some of your travels and the great big rock. Mountains you can keep and I will trade you for the sea. I have always been a coastal person, although in the South of Spain the coast was beside mountains so we had the best of both worlds.
No give me the smell of the sea any and everyday please.

Awwww. I have never been to the sea. That’s something I wish and pray with my whole heart that I’d experience at least once in my life. Just once. 🙂

This was such a beautiful post and I love the way you explained your thoughts and feelings 😊

I lived close to the beach and woods all my life but only seen mountains while visited other places.

Your Rocky roads are amazing and I understand all you mentioned and how it feels. Roads are important as it is how we get to our destinations.

And to have a view like that with rocks and the sky is magical to, and I loved hearing your words.

Thank you for sharing and have a wonderful week. 🌷
