Assorted Search

The prompt made me laugh for two reasons. The first being I hardly search serious topics with my phone and I happen to want to write this post with my phone. The second being that 80% of my searches is about food and you guessed it, my last search was about food.

So you see, I get into this thing where I crave things almost all the time. And those things always happen to be beyond my reach. If I’m not on a low budget, then I can’t access it at all. I remember when I craved Ramen noodles so bad, I had to improvise.

Or when I just wanted to stuff my mouth with Pringles and I had to tie my throat because I didn’t have the money available. This time, I was craving meat. And not just any kind, the assorted kind.

Y’all come across Kayan Ciki? That’s what we call it in the North. It’s a mix of assorted meat and can be used in soups or stews. Most people I know use them in soups. I want it in a soup. A pepper soup.

The last time I had Kayan Ciki (pepper soup) was two years ago (I might be remembering wrong and it could be less) when I had this round of craving. It was so strong and I was so low on cash I substituted for bread. Nuts..lol.

Anyway, someone (I was “madly” in love with him then) seemed to read my mind (we were dating duh…) and told me to come outside…

Yep. I spent that evening with a bowl of well prepared Kayan Ciki pepper soup on a bed of white rice. I was also on my period which meant I was emotional. I cried eating it. It tasted like heaven. My mom went,

“I can’t imagine what you’d be like when you’re pregnant. I just hope your husband is prepared.”

Yeah. It’s funny. I hope he’s prepared too. In conclusion, that was my last search. Now though, I’m craving Shortbread biscuits.
