How do you add value to Hive?
When most people hear “Investment”, what surfaces their mind is putting your money to work. That is not entirely wrong if you look at it completely from a money point. However, words as we know have different meanings in different context.
From a 100% financial point of view, investment can be doing business with your money, or generally using your money for something that generates profit.
But investment can be more
I think why most people directly associate investment with money is because the word “investment” has been subconsciously mapped to money in our minds. We’ve been wired to think that way from when we were young.
Where we start to look at it different is when we change the noun to the action “investing”. This word, we’ve seen and applied to mean several things not directly related to money in many different contexts. We see that when we talk about “investing in yourself” and things like that.

Talking about investment with respect to Hive, we’re not just talking about the type that whales do when they buy and power up ]Hive]( https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-usdhive).
If you’re someone rich enough to make a difference, the best way you can invest in Hive price-wise will be to actually buy up some Hive, stake it, and curate with it. Your huge buy order will most likely drive price up, and through your curation, authors producing quality content will be retained. This is probably the best investment you can make in Hive.
But if you’re small fish like me whose pockets are not that deep, there are alternative ways you can contribute to adding value to Hive.
Content
Yes, content.
Many people don’t realize that one of the things that makes Hive Hive is the fact that it’s a place for quality original content.
Why the community stresses and values original content so much is so that you can’t find the content on Hive anywhere else. Scarcity attracts value, especially when the scarce resource is quality.

Hive is a place where people share unique experiences not just in the form of texts, but photos, videos, you name it. I’ve seen and learnt many things on Hive that I otherwise would’ve been ignorant about.
In a few days time, we’ll be celebrating the fire festival in my area. Not many people who are not Dagombas know about it or the history behind it. And sure, you can always hit google to learn about it, but the information on google will be generic and leave out important parts of the stories and new fresh experience which you most likely will find in the blogs people will share about it in a few days. And this extra piece of information might just be the value that attracts readers (some of which might have potential to add value here themselves or even invest) and make them want to keep coming back to Hive.
Onboarding
Onboarding basically involves bringing people to Hive. People you believe you believe will be able to add some sort of value to Hive. This can be through investments like buying and powering up Hive, starting good projects, or by creating good content.

In this case, you’re not directly adding value to Hive, but you’re bringing on another person with potential to add value to Hive.
The approach to investing in Hive or adding value to it is dependent on individual capabilities and discernment. We all have special abilities we can draw on to add more value to Hive and it is up to us to decide what our contribution to the ecosystem is.
I think my understanding of the prompt I'm choosing to write on is a little bit different from that of majority of the people I see writing from the prompt, so as such, I’ll be writing from my perspective - Ways you invest into Hive.

Thanks for sharing about how one can add value to Hive. Many people may not be aware that onboarding is a crucial way of adding value to Hive, as they often focus solely on staking. Onboarding plays a vital role in expanding the user base and acts as a means of bringing new people, including potential investors, to Hive, ultimately adding value to the platform.
Exactly! The impact of onboarding on the ecosystem’s growth is underrated.
These are some very good points you have stated here. Most people do not see onboarding as a way of adding value to the blockchain but truth is, the more people we have here on the blockchain, the more difference we make.
Onboarding is essentially a way to add untapped potential to the platform whose content and engagement can be harnessed into value for the blockchain.
I totally agree with you. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us.
