Hive Ghana Maiden Meetup: The Genesis Of A Stronger Hive Ghana Community.

Hive a diverse community of people from all around the world. It’s the perfect place to meet all sorts of people with different backgrounds and cultural values and to appreciate life far away from your small corner or farmhouse.

Some countries have established very strong communities on Hive already and have shown impressive growth over the past few years.

Ghanaians however, are not widespread on Hive as of yet because our numbers have only started to grow since somewhere around the middle of last year after I became active. It’s been one of our biggest goals to build a strong and active Ghanaian community here.

In our quest to build a stronger community, a meetup is incumbent, so we planned to hold the first Hive Ghana meetup.

The Ghanaian population on Hive right now is scattered across two regions in Ghana- The Northern and Southern Region.

I’m from the Northern region and so was in charge of moderating the meetup with @samed10. Samed10 happens to be a business man involved in yoghurt production so his yoghurt was part of the refreshment package during the meetup.

Myself and @samed10

We had to make a last minute adjustment to our venue though. You’ll notice the surprising venue if you read this post

The meetup commenced at 10am with an opening prayer followed by a quick intro. For some of us, it was our first time seeing each other. The controversy of my username popped up when I introduced myself. Lol

We covered a lot in this meetup, including community and engagement, building connections, account building (the importance of growing your stake), plagiarism and the need to create quality original content, tags, tags abuse and why it is important to use the right tags, a look at some frontends and communities, and many more. We went all out with the discussion.

We had guests among us invited by some already registered Hivers. For the sake of those people, we explained from scratch what Hive is, what makes it unique and why they need to be on Hive. We also explained the basics of how Hive operates and welcomed and answered all questions they had.

Aside guests, there were also among us, people who had created an account but haven’t been active yet because they didn’t understand how Hive worked exactly yet. In our explanation to the guests, they were enlightened as well. We’ll be guiding them write their intro posts and the basics of navigating their way through Hive. As at the time I wrote this post, @thisisnativeboy has published his intro post. I encourage each one of you to explore as much as you can and interact with as many people as you can.

We have the telegram incase you guys still have any questions. Hive is a bog ecosystem and so we obviously don’t have all the answers(no one does honestly) but we’ll try to answer as many as we can, and for those we can’t answer ourselves, we’ll do some digging to educate you more.

It was awesome meeting you all today, guys. I definitely had fun and I wish we could do this more often. See yall in the next one. Peace✌️

Meanwhile the sourthern meetup was happening on the same day in KNUST, KUMASI and was led by @nattybongo and @awuahbenjamin. Thanks for pulling it off, guys. Hopefully we’ll have a crossover meetup of both Northerners and Southerners sometime this year.

@mcsamm, thanks for funding the meetup, brother. And to everyone who attended, thanks for showing up guys. I know everyone who couldn't attend would’ve been part of the meet up if it wasn’t for school. Hopefully we’ll have another one sometime, maybe when you guys are even done as a send off party from school.

I’m glad that you were there too. Would’ve been a hassle explaining stuff to you alone. I hope we get to have more of these meetups.

It was an excellent way to meetup, the reason why I said this is because it basically covered a lot for these new guys, it's important they have the right now mindset and that this mindset is embedded in the hivers they become. I've been looking at your shoes for a while now hahaha lovely pair. You always remember to come out dashing hahaha.

We sure covered a lot. I hope we didn’t overwhelm them with information. Lol that tends to happen a lot when I try to explain something I like talking about in detail.

As for the shoes, let’s leave that one there. It’s the same shoe I’ve been wearing😂. I actually wasn’t going to wear a sneaker in fear that I might show up overdressed. But what is it they say?- better overdressed than underdressed, right?😂

I think the best thing is to actually overwhelm them with details and leaving them to sift through the myriads of information, using the one they would instantaneously need and futuristically need. So it's way to go.

You're absolutely right it is best to overdress rather than under dress. I remember the meeting I had with starstrings and the rest. It was difficult to pick what to wear but I was glad I actually didn't go below expectations
