Capturing emotions in black and white / Capturando emociones en blanco y negro
Hello friends of Photography Lover,
Today I bring you a small selection of photos that I found in my archives. I took them before my wife went to Spain, it's been 7 months since we separated, but if everything goes as we hope, we only have 3 months left to see each other again. This separation has been difficult, but we are coping with it as well as we can.
Most of these photos were taken on a walk we did together in Havana with our friend Raymel, who is a great person and friend of both of us. Only the first picture was taken at home. Every time I look at that picture and see that sparkling look, it brings back so many beautiful memories.

Hoy les traigo una pequeña selección de fotos que encontré en mis archivos. Las tomé antes de que mi esposa se fuera a España, hace 7 meses que nos separamos, pero si todo sale como esperamos, sólo nos quedan 3 meses para volver a vernos. Esta separación ha sido difícil, pero la estamos llevando lo mejor que podemos.
La mayoría de estas fotos fueron tomadas en un paseo que hicimos juntos en La Habana con nuestro amigo Raymel, que es una gran persona y amigo de ambos. Sólo la primera foto fue tomada en casa. Cada vez que miro esa foto y veo esa mirada chispeante, me trae tantos recuerdos bonitos.
As for the editing process, I preferred to work in black and white. I really appreciate black and white photography because, at least for me, it brings out the emotions. Also, the contrast and depth that can be achieved add an extra dimension to the images.
I like to portray my wife with her back turned, without her looking directly at me. I prefer to capture her silhouette with what she is looking at in the background, in this case, the sea. I always like to take pictures of Raymel and he is always available haha, I have several pictures of him, he is quite photogenic. The other two photos were taken of two boys who passed by us. I asked the girl to let me take a picture of her earring, because I thought it was very original. As for the boy, I just liked the way he looked and decided to take a picture of him.
En cuanto al proceso de edición, preferí trabajar en blanco y negro. Aprecio mucho a fotografía en blanco y negro porque, al menos para mí, desnuda las emociones. Además, el contraste y la profundidad que se pueden lograr agregan una dimensión adicional a las imágenes.
Me gusta retratar a mi mujer de espaldas, sin que me mire directamente. Prefiero captar su silueta con lo que está mirando de fondo, en este caso, el mar. Siempre me gusta hacer fotos a Raymel y siempre está disponible jaja, tengo varias fotos de él, es bastante fotogénico. Las otras dos fotos se las hice a dos chicos que pasaron a nuestro lado. A la chica le pedí que me dejara hacerle una foto a su pendiente, porque me pareció muy original. En cuanto al chico, simplemente me gustó su aspecto y decidí hacerle una foto.
