Sept. 17, 22: Routine, Zombierun, AutomaticWin, DoubleDay, Mowing, TV, and Games

Got up relatively early this morning (had to pee really bad 😡), but I fell asleep early enough last night, around eight thirty or so (also a little early, but not as bad as before - falling asleep around seven). FitBit says I was still five minutes short, but good enough for government work, cranked the activity today!

Although I am somewhat disappointed with myself that I didn’t get any work done at the computer today (not even wasting time on HashKings), I am a finite (macroscopic being) with the capacity only to be in one place at one time, so I’m going to cut myself some slack…I worked pretty hard all afternoon outside instead.

I finished up the course I’d started on Bitdegree about creating and deploying dApps on Polygon. I will say that I did learn something, at least about the existence of Remix and moralis, but otherwise basically every time he ran the code it didn’t work and we just sit there watching him fail to troubleshoot shoot and then he says “so that’s how to get tg at working.” 🤣

Not too much interesting to note about the morning routine; was pretty usual. BTC still hovering just below twenty thousand and markets were mostly trading sideways if not slightly to the downside. Otherwise, curation, token shifting, check the SOL market, chatted on Discord, all the normal morning shebang.

I got a fairly early start on my post and had been moving around enough already to make me think that a #AutomaticWin was possible, so I got the structure of my post done and headed out for five kilometer Zombierun. 💪

The storyline still hasn’t really moved anywhere, it’s still all about the evidence that the Head of the Ministry is behind the whole conspiracy…in fact it was her research that created patient zero in the first place, so she’s actually responsible for the whole zombie apocalypse altogether! 😳

I kept a very brisk walking pace but didn’t push it too hard in between zombies. There were plenty out today, though, so I got some solid running in anyway. Five for five zombies evaded (with no warnings!) and mission complete. 💪

Definitely cooler out this morning, but to be fair I did head out only just after sunrise. I had long stuff on and was thankful for it to begin, but I was sweating pretty good by the time I was done.

Hello, Sunshine, whatya’ knowin’?

Saw quite a few little buggies on the road, but I stopped for this one…another sure sign of Fall.

Uh-oh…you see what I see? And so it begins…

When I got back I noticed (once again) that the yard was looking a bit shabby, especially since both my neighbors had mowed theirs. I hadn’t let it go too long, so it wasn’t that bad, but it was due, so I grabbed some lunch and decided to get the mowing done.

I got the bottles that were piled up in the garage bagged up and put in the wife’s car to take back to the store and cleared out the stuff that was in the hall waiting to go out to the garage and then got to the lawn.

I was just thinking how amazing it was that this mower has gotten me through another season…it has to be over twenty years old! Then, after about a half an hour of working in the front, the right back wheel started to lock up. 😱😡

Flipped it over and tried to break it loose again but couldn’t really get it free and I noticed the “drive” belt was all gummed up with crap and was probably binding the wheel.

Now, that drive was meant to make the mowing a sinch since it was supposed to move itself and all you basically needed to do was walk behind it and guide it. However, it never worked very well and after my Dad took it in several times to be repaired and it still didn’t work (and quit altogether after less than a year), we gave up on it.

Now the belt was loose but the wheel kept binding and it felt like I was working against the mower pushing it. I pulled the drive clutch and boom! The drive kicked in! 😯🤔 It doesn’t work very well, have to squeeze the clutch pretty hard and it doesn’t really pull very fast, but it was helpful to use one hand when I have to duck under the trees and bushes! 😁

By that time it was mid afternoon and while it wasn’t summertime hot, I definitely had to take a couple breaks to cool down and rehydrate. Finally got it all done and was feeling good about the way it looked…and figured I’d really earned my shower both running and working…but there was the back yard.

Usually (well, this year), after I get the front done I’m pretty much burnt and doing the back means that I have to get the mower down the deck stairs and back up again, which is that much extra work, and I leave it until “next time.”

I might have done the back once at the beginning of the summer, but that’s a definite maybe and I certainly hadn’t since then…I basically had to wade through waist high grass to dump the cuttings and I felt bad that the dog couldn’t barely move around out there, so I went for it.

It was bad enough, though, that the chute would clog after just a foot or two of cutting, so I actually ended up mowing the whole thing at least three times. Once I cut without the bag and just got the bulk down, then went over it all again once or twice to get it down to something that could be picked up, and then again with the bag on (which still clogged all the time, but at least manageable).

It took basically all afternoon into the evening, but it’s done now too. 😃 So crazy how different it looks back there now and we could actually play fetch out there if the doggy wanted to! 😄

By that point I’d busted a solid #DoubleDay and then some! I took my well-deserved shower and then made myself some pasta and fried hotdogs for dinner (ate the spaghetti o’s but still had some dogs left). Got ready for bed and put on a movie: White Snake. Was an Asian animated film, but I ended up working on my Wombat daily challenges for a little while and then just turned the phone off, tried to forget about it, watched a few minutes of the show and was gone.

Got to head in and get the groceries tomorrow and then maybe go get Lady for a walk, but hopefully I’ll get some work done on the website…need to start prepping for teaching next week as well…🤔🤓

You’ve got to be kidding, still twenty words short…now I really feel like I’m cheating. I remembered something else I could add, though, so I didn’t actually need this section. 😜]

Went in on Rising Star this morning and set a lesson going to get my Ego back down, but then forgot about it for the rest of the day. I got it reset on a mission again now, never mind there’s like fourteen levels left to unlock the next mission and I’m not even close to half way to millionaire…maybe in 2050?

I really had set working at the computer (and dealing with HashKings) as my goal for today, but the lawn had been nagging at me and I did that instead…and it took the whole rest of the day to do! 😯

I guess I don’t have quite as much ground to have to recover on Splinterlands, so I can afford to leave it sit for a while and let the OP decks work their way back up (except those that linger for easy wins)…I felt the urge to play (or more the addiction to earn something - however little), but thought about it, thought about relaxing and drifting off to sleep, and the latter won out.

Got my Focus “rewards,” and I was wrong! I didn’t get potions or fractions of SPS…even worse, a tiny bit of merits. 😭 Ooooh, if I save up fifty times that, I can get some cards that have literally zero value…definitely worth the hour I spent losing into Silver. 😛😡

I claimed my interest for the day and left it liquid in game for now. RiftWatcher gems are going for even cheaper on H-E and I’m kind of tempted to snag a couple more packs…probably need at least a hundred packs to be able to get any monsters to any decent, usable level and I’m not really looking to do that, so…dunno. Too much stuff way too fast.
