banana compote/porridge, sweet potato and sago pearls
Hi fellow vegan lovers, today I want to make a dessert called kolak. It's not the fasting month but why make kolak? That's the question that often arises when I make this food at this time Hahaha, why not! During the fasting month, this dessert can be said to be a must-have takjil dish for most people, because this food is so typical that during the fasting month many people sell this dish.
Oh yes, talking about eating kolak at this time, we can make anything as long as we want and we have the ingredients, right? It so happens that at home there are a lot of ripe kepok bananas (already yellow) so I thought of making a kolak dish, besides I also want to eat this sweet food. Besides having a sweet taste, this kolak dish is very delicious and can make your stomach full when you eat it.
Did you know, because of the popularity of this kolak dessert, there are so many recipes and types of kolak that can be made with various ingredients including bananas (kepok bananas, raja bananas, horn bananas) cassava, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, jackfruit, durian, sugar palm fruit, candil, from sticky rice and many more. And also for the sweetener you can use granulated sugar or palm sugar. Each dish offers its own uniqueness. What kind of kolak do you like? Okay, let's see how to make simple kolak at home below.
- 1 comb of ripe kepok bananas (yellow kepok bananas)
- 2 sweet potatoes
- 100 grams of sago pearls
- 1 slightly ripe coconut (for coconut milk)
- 2 pandan leaves
- 200 grams of granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
First: prepare a container, peel the bananas, cut them according to taste. Likewise with sweet potatoes cut into cubes or shapes that you like.
Second: heat water, boil sago pearls for a while or for 10 minutes so that the sago pearls expand more. When it has expanded, turn off the stove and set aside
Third: prepare another pan to cook coconut milk, use medium heat only, add granulated sugar, salt and pandan leaves, cook until boiling, don't forget to stir so that the coconut milk doesn't clump. After that, add the bananas, sweet potatoes and sago pearls that have been boiled earlier. Cook until all ingredients are cooked and the texture is soft. Don't forget to check the taste.
This soup dish with a sweet and legit taste is ready to be enjoyed. The combination of the soft texture and sweet taste of bananas and sweet potatoes with coconut milk sauce produces a delicious taste. Added with the colorful sago pearls makes this kolak dish more attractive, right?
There are two ways to enjoy sweet dishes, namely while warm when the weather is cold and served cold when the weather is hot.
