Three Tune Tuesday / Evening Groove ~ Brainwashed Speakeasies with a Self Portrait

Greetings and salutations Hivers. Today let's go into another Evening Groove / Three Tune Tuesday post.

As always, thanks to @ablaze for making this series. Lots of people participate in it! Follow the tags to find a ton of good music recommendation.

Today I have another mix of different genres. Trying to keep switching things up to stay interesting.

Ryuichi Sakamoto - Self Portrait

My first song today is from Ryuichi Sakamoto. He tragically died of cancer the other day at only 71 years old. He was an amazing composer.

He composed so many wonderful songs that picking just one would be a challenge. @yadamaniart shared a great piece from him in this post and it's hard to disagree with that amazing pick, so we'll go with it.

This is the 4th song on his 1984 record titled Ongaku Zukan.

The End of Asia is another favorite.

The Speakeasies - Bright Lights Late Nights

This is just an amazing Greek indie swing jazz band. It's nice to see older genres come back. They guys definitely lean into the whole retro thing, not just in their name and style but just watch their music video for this song below. That might seem like a gimmick, but they have a great sound to back it up.

This song is from their first album, released in 2012. Speaking as a former clarinet player, I couldn't be happier that one of their members is a clarinetist. And how about that lead singer? I think I'm in love! (don't tell my wife)

George Harrison - Brainwashed

Harrison was always my favorite of the Beatles. His philosophic and spiritual outlook appealed to me and still appeal to me. This was the last track of his final album of the same name released a year after his death in 2002. He had been working on it for over a decade and it was finished by his son Dhani and long-time collaborator Jeff Lynne after his death.

Some might say that other tracks from the album were better, and I wouldn't argue, but this final song everything is hitting on target and it is perfect Harrison, featuring not only cutting political lyrics but also a Hindu prayer. I figure those lyrics might make this a popular choice for the Hive crowd. Just listen!

So what's your favorite?

Hi there! David LaSpina is an American photographer and translator lost in Japan, trying to capture the beauty of this country one photo at a time and searching for the perfect haiku.

I enjoyed that opener from Ryuichi Sakamoto, I always appreciate instrumental songs like this, which must work much harder than a song with lyrics to keep ones attention.

This is just an amazing Greek indie swing jazz band.

You are right there, these guys are unreal, loved everything about this from the sound, to the video, quality stuff.

Finished off in style with a great song by top beatle George Harrison, excellent stuff man, great three tune Tuesday post all around, quality stuff.
