The Tough and Turbulent Road to 25k HP・My Hive Goals for 10 July 2023

avatar

Hello all! Another week and it's time again to look at the progress I've made on #myHivegoals, as well as give a few tokens I'm looking at right now. If you are here for the comment SBI giveaway, well, we'll get to that too. I also want to give a brief preview of some of the posts I have coming this week, at least the ones I've already written and scheduled.

Let's start with my Hive goals.

~ Hive & HBD ~

On the turbulent path to 25k, I've managed to make 144.300 HP this past week, bringing me to 16,423.030 total Hive Power. That's 65.7% of my goal!

So where we at here... 25k - 16,423.030 gives us 8576.97. Progress is being made, but not enough to get to by goal by Jan 1st of next year. To do that I'll need 49 Hive per day, which is a bit over my daily average. Oh well... Hope remains!

Well, that's mainly it. As I keep saying, Hive Power is my focus this year. But I did make a few other moves that I'll mention.

~ LGN ~

I bought about 20 LGN off the market, putting me at 606.217. The airdrop may have ended early, but people are still dumping what they have for under price, so I am scooping it up little by little. This is giving a pretty nice monthly dividend, and Ray keeps promising more to come.

~ PIMP ~

I made 248.886 PIMP last week, putting me at 53,552.851, still #11 on the richlist. Pimp gives a nice daily Hive div among all the other tokens that it gives out every day.

~ DailyDab ~

DailyDab has been paying out a very large div daily for the past week. Staking has now been turned on for the Dab token, giving us the option of having that div paid in Dbond tokens instead of Hive. I've staked my Dabs to take advantage of that option. The APR will undoubtedly fall as more and more Dbonds get spread around, but right now it is very very nice.

That's it for goals, progress on goals, and tokens that have caught my eye. Now let's look at a preview of my coming posts for the week ahead.

Tuesday I have my Three Tunes Tuesday post. These are when I pick out three songs I really enjoy and share some history behind them as well as why they are meaningful to me. This week I am continuing my jazz theme from last time.

Wednesday I have a haiku post. Well... that's as far as I've gotten anyway. This one is still in draft mode.

Thursday I have my coin post for my silver stacker buddies. This week we'll be looking at some barber dimes I picked up a few weeks ago. These guys:

I also picked up an additional silver ¥100 coin, as you see in that photo. I don't know why I keep buying these... they are only 60% silver. But every time I visit the coin shop and see some, I just feel compelled to pick up at least one.

Friday I have You Should Laugh Today, where I share a few funny things that I hope will throw you into fits of laughter. We'll be looking at one of my favorite movies this week. Here's a hint: Enrico Pallazzo.

Saturday and Sunday... well... still in draft mode for both these days. It's summer; my kids are wild; I am not being able to devote enough to for working as far ahead as usual. These will be a surprise. But we all like surprises, eh?

That stuff out of the way, let's do our SBI drawing! If you are new here, I give away 5 shares of SBI every week to commenters on this post. If I get under five commenters, I try to divide it up as best as possible, and if I get over five, I do a random drawing.

So how about this week? Let's see... last post we had comments from @infinity0 @kaibagt @bozz @untilwelearn @trumpman @pulubengdugs @bitcoinman @trautenberk @ladymisa @blitzzzz @ablaze @mdasein @cryptictruth @kerrislravenhill @pardinus @ssebasv

Looks like the winners are @pulubengdugs @trumpman @ladymisa @bitcoinman @untilwelearn. Congrats to all winners!

The fun times keep going. Comment again if you want into the drawing for another SBI next week!

And forward we go! It was a strong week. Let's see how this coming one goes!

Hi there! David LaSpina is an American photographer and translator lost in Japan, trying to capture the beauty of this country one photo at a time and searching for the perfect haiku.

It's great to see you interested in strategic and planned growth. Today, I had some questions about the other tokens on Hive and how they are used. I asked these questions in some Discord servers and got some answers. I believe that this post may help me by discovering more about these tokens that are confusing me. I think I made a good start by buying HIVE and powering it up an hour ago, and I believe that with this kind of strategy, I can reach my goals in a more organized way. Congratulations to you!

Thank you 😃

Other tokens are interesting, but one should remember that most of the second layer tokens are shitcoins and will quickly go to zero. There are gems in there, such as the ones I mentioned in this post, but you must be careful. If you are confused, it's best to stick to Hive.

Oh crap, I need to get in and get my dabs staked! I'm on the road and I have very poor signal here.

Hope you could get it done. I staked them immediately. But then I read his post about how you need to time your staking to get the best APR or something like that. I need to go back and read that again because I didn't quite understand it.

Ah, I didn't get around to it today. I personally don't like having to put that much work into it. Some people game these things so much. It's like a second job!

I know what you mean. I don't have that much time to put into it. I'll reread the post again, but if I still don't understand it, I'll just stake what I get each day and not worry about it.

I'll have to look for that. I think it's a great idea to do these posts. It helps keep you on your goals and also gives some info that others can use.

I'm not as methodical as you. When I feel like it, have time and an idea, I sit down and write a post. I don't make any weekly plans. But I admire planning...

That weekly schedule is not really plan, just what I've already written so what I know is coming. I try to work ahead about a week in my writing so that if I get sick or otherwise can't write on one day, I still have a post already scheduled so I don't miss anything.

Is posting on Hive fun or work for you? I have a problem defining it for myself...

Pure enjoyment. I only make around $10 per post on average. That is a joke for any kind of work. So no, I definitely wouldn't be here if it was work. I enjoy the writing and I enjoy the interaction with people. The money is fun, absolutely, but I'd be posting here even without it, just as I blogged daily for 10 years for free before coming to Hive.

I think if you don't enjoy it, then there is little here. Even the fairly few people who are making close to $100 per post, that's still not very much compared to a real job, at least not in Japan or the US, the two places I'm most familiar with. I don't see that Hive can ever be more than a Hobby, at least not now. Maybe if the value of 1 Hive goes from .30 to a few dollars, but as things are it's only a hobby.

So far my last post is making about $0.1. Yes, it's fun.

But there are countries where they earn less than $2 a day. In my country, the average monthly salary is about 1,800 USD.

Thank you for answer. I'm forming an opinion about the Hive and the people on it.

I think in parts of the US it is also not much higher than $2000. Parts of my home country are not at all what they were in the past, unfortunately. At my $10 per day on average, I am well below that so even if I were living in one of those States I wouldn't be able to survive on a Hive income. But yes, I see your point.

Yeah, around .1 or even .01 when you are new is the norm around here. That's not necessarily by design, but is just due to the fact that no one knows you yet. The population of Hive is not high, but even so we do have enough content being published daily that it is really hard for curation groups to spot new people. If you start replying to many different bigger posts, you will slowly attract a following, and this will start to put you in the sight of the curation accounts.

I think it's easier now than it was when I started. 6 years ago when I started, Steemit, which was the predecessor to Hive, was much much bigger and it was very hard to be spotted by anyone. I think it was at least a year before any of my posts made more than $1.

If you are willing and able to build up your Hive account, it can be a supplement to your income. I don't think you should expect more than that. If you are lucky enough to attract a large following and reach the $100 per post level that a few here have reached, then maybe you could start to consider otherwise, but at least where things stand now, I don't think you should even hope for that or it might set you up for disappointment. My own advice is learn to enjoy Hive as a hobby. If it turns into more than that, wonderful, but learn to enjoy it as a hobby first.

Yes, I take it as entertainment here. If I want better results, I will have to put in the time and effort. Of course.
Thank you for your opinions.

so there are tokens that can generate income in HIVE form. I should let myself be aware of those. tnx for these info and thank you for the SBI. More power!

I don't know why I keep buying these... they are only 60% silver. But every time I visit the coin shop and see some, I just feel compelled to pick up at least one.

Daily Dab is going to be a good one. If you plan on being on Hive long term, it is definitely worth picking up.

Nice job! I bet you find a way to make it by January 1st ;-)

Reminds me that I have severely neglected HIVE for the level 2's (LEO). Guess I need to start posting trying to scrape some together for the ultimate rise.

I too would be drawn to that little 60% coin. It has a simple appeal that says Buy Me!
