Patrick Stewart is Insane

avatar

Greetings and salutations Hivers. Today I thought we'd do another You Should Laugh More post.

Research has shown that laughter is good for us. It has all kinds of health benefits. Despite most of us knowing this, none of us laugh enough. Yeah, I know, being an adult is tough, and furthermore there is a lot of grim stuff happening in the world. These things may be true, but that just is all the more reason for trying to get a little laughter into our lives.

Sir Patrick Stewart Throws a Hail Arnold

This is as crazy as it sounds. Also featuring Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, Drew Barrymore, Knuckles, Master Chief, and Creed, they all are trapped in a desperate situation and Patrick comes up with the only way to save them: throwing a kid with a football-shaped head.

Patrick Steward vs Mark Hamill

A few years ago we got a strange but great series of commercials for UberEats that pitted Picard against Luke. For decades fans have been arguing about which is better, Star Trek or Star Wars. UberEars decided to play off this and have Patrick Steward and Mark Hamill, the two stars from their respective franchises who have turned in the past few years to using their pop culture status for humor. They did a number of these commercials. This clip combines them. Enjoy!

I've Seen Everything

Many of you may have seen this one. This isn't a commercial, but is when he guested on Extras, which was was a British sitcom by Ricky Gervais from around 2005. This is to my knowledge the first time Stewart made a turn towards comedy, which at the time surprised all of us, both at the turn to comedy and at how good he was.

So what do you think? Did it make you laugh or was it just stupid? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

Easy to forget sometimes that he is a classically trained theater actor. I'm glad he has learned to come out of his shell and have a little fun!

According to the TNG actors, he was the most silly, playful, and joking one of the bunch. I think he just learned to let the public see.

Patrick is a fantastic actor as he shows here. I didn't like the advert, but the writing by Ricky was 1st class and I found the scene hilarious. I am guessing that Patrick has some charisma in real life that you may not think with him being in TNG and Picard.

Both the adverts were a bit too much, but they had their moments. In the first one when he mixed up his sports talk, I think that was a reference to this old fan meme:

Thanks for the pick!

It's hard to type while laughing, but these are great! I don't spend much time watching YouTube, so I missed all of these completely. Thanks so much for sharing them and giving me my morning giggles!

Also, for the record, Start Trek > Star Wars. 😁

He is brilliant. I never saw those Uber Eat ads.

I think his first comedy appearance would have been in Frasier.

He is first and foremost a Yorkshireman and they love their Yorkshire Tea not the Earl Grey Muck he drank as Picard. He is great and often does ads on British TV.

He is from an amazing generation of British actors.

Great post

Oh I missed his appearance on Frasier. I'll have to look that up. heh yeah I've seen videos of him talking about his preference for Yorkshire tea. Two teabags, not one. I think he calls it "double-bagging", or at least did in an interview I remember where he talked about it. I recently bought his autobiography, but haven't had a chance to start reading it yet.

lol double bagging well depending on the circumstance he may well have been referring to another meaning we have in the UK!

Tomaytoe, Tomahtoe. Ha! He cracks me up. Next Gen he was the only captain to rival Kirk with the witty musings.
