Mitchell and Webb - Are We the Baddies?

Greetings and salutations Hivers. Today I thought we'd do another You Should Laugh More post.

Research has shown that laughter is good for us. It has all kinds of health benefits. Despite most of us knowing this, none of us laugh enough. Yeah, I know, being an adult is tough, and furthermore there is a lot of grim stuff happening in the world. These things may be true, but that just is all the more reason for trying to get a little laughter into our lives.

Today, I want to look at a great British comedy act. No, not Monty Python. Mitchell and Webb!

I first became aware of these guys when they were hired by Apple to do the British version of the I'm a Mac, I'm a PC ads. I don't know why Apple felt the need to localize those ads for the UK, but I'm glad they did, because it introduced me to a pair that has become one of my favorite comic duos.

Their comedy style is silly, sarcastic, and a bit over-the-top, as you might expect from British comedy, with a bit of a dark edge, which you might see in some of the clips I share today. They remind me less of Monty Python and more of Fry and Laurie. Anyway, let's look at some funny skits from them.

Diana Assassination

I suppose this could verge on dark or black comedy given the subject matter, but it is so silly that I don't think anyone could be upset at it. Listen in as they come up with the absolutely perfect way to get rid of Princess Di.

Are We the Baddies?

Did you ever wonder if the bad guys see themselves as bad guys? This is the skit that I took the title of this post from. Again, a bit of a dark matter I suppose, but presented in a silly way.

Holmes and Watson

This is a unique skit. They play Holmes and Watson, alternating who plays Holmes and Watson with every scene.

The New Fuhrer

Did you ever wonder what might have happened if a new Führer had been appointed after Hitlet killed himself? Well wonder no more!

Rogue Surgeons

You'll never want to get surgery again!

So what do you think? Did any of those make you laugh or were they just stupid? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
