Throw back August Ipoh stay (1)

It was a decision that i want to go back and look after mom, after my sister told us she will be away for a shoet family get away. Its not likely gonna be anything happen to mom whilst my sister is away, provided we have a day helper came to the house to look after mom.

I am taking the opportunity to make my boss to agree i can work off site instead of gluing my face in the office during this period. I went back to the office to clear up some of the physical documents before setting off to my home town. Had lunch with a colleague and the rest of the day be in the horrible Monday traffic.

By the time i arrived to my parents house, its already past midnight. I didn't waste anymore time than hitting the sack, so i can get up early the next morning. Lo and behold, i did overslept. By the time i set foot off the house, sun is already up.

I have thought of going for a hike, but considering i haven't been doing anymore vigorous workout for almost a year now, I'm not exactly sure if I'm fit to do so. In the name of taking a walk for cardio, i decided to visit the Padang Ipoh.

Morning walk can be fairly easy here, as the town will only started to pile up after 9am. Come in the morning and there is very little crowd. The only concern is, between darkness and school time, buses will be passing by this one of the most important road in the city.

After about 45 minutes power walk, I then proceed to visit one of the all time favortie restaurant nearby the house. Its old school curry noodle house, the scenary is marvelous here. Food is affordable and tasty at the same time. Its not famous simply because this is a residential area.

Wait.... The picture below, was it continous from the morning walk story? You're not wrong, but the context is, these below pictures were taken at the dawn. After finished a long day at work, my brother finally came home to takeover. He will be taking care of mom, so i went out for yet another power walk.

I'm not exactly sure, but i just felt like wanted to move, than sitting there do nothing. Life in this small town is so much simpler. Traffic alone saved me at least an hour in the morning and another hour in the evening. So, going for more power walk become my priority and i find it relax my mind seeing others are also having a good time exercising and sweat the devils out.

I have previously posted about this million dollar toilet, probably one of the most expensive public toilet ever constructed in human history. Once again, it remain "broken". AWAS is a Malay word we use in Malaysia. I believe its different than Indonesia in addressing Danger as Darurat.

From this picture, you can see a newly painted guard rail, which serve absolutely no purpose. For many older generations people, this guard rail reminds us this is where the field originally stands, the "hill" behind the rail originally wasn't there. The hill was later erected in the 90s in order to resuce the "steepness" of the public road elevation.

How can i tell of it was a morning and evening difference? Well, its simple. Morning people goes to work. Retirees don't usually play foot ball. Therefor its easy to differentiate.

This part of the told is consider old town. The place i usually park my car is around this area. It is the Tourism office for the local municipal and they're the one who manage infrastructure here.

I am not entirely sure if its due to the pollution in Kuala Lumpur, but the sky in Ipoh town is nicer than Kuala Lumpur a hands down.

This plate i am not exactly sure when dis they erected here. I haven't notice this previously. Initially i wanted to do a write up about the story of this parade field, but later decided let stick to photo walkthrough instead of story telling.

A very beautiful British colonial building currently occupied by HSBC next to the field. They used to put up huge Chinese signboard those days stating this is 汇丰银行 by the door, it really give an old Hong Kong feels back then, but not anymore.

I did 5 rounds of power walk and occasionally do some pull ups by using their goal rack(I'm the onyl idiot does that). By the time I'm done with my last lap, the town is being fully evacuated. Across the street is an old colonial shop house by the name of FMS. Ask any local where FMS is, they will be able to direct you here. This used to be a famous cowboy restaurant, now it has turned into a full blown restaurant, Halal. I haven't get a chance to try it, may be next time.

Since i was having a conversation with @atyh that time, i decided to take a small detour, to extend my power walk across the old town, here we can see the CITY HALL. This is many local fags memory as many likes to host their wedding ceremony here, with the very nice colonial building.

More old colonial shops across the street adjacent to the field. Towards evening, there's nothing much happening here as the locals will usually go to restaurants, or go home for thier dinner.

Since I was in town, my original plan was going to visit some old restaurants, find back my old days treats. The only problem being, i left this place for too damn long. Coming back for short vacation with the family is different, having work here on a weekday, live like a local is another story.

I tried several shops that i known from my younger age, either they dont operate at night, or they dont do business during weekdays. Don't laugh, the locals thinking are one of a kind. I ended up go back to the food court near my parent's house for dinner.

I got myself a "breakfast". Not the biggest portion i ever had, but for the price of RM9.50, with a piece of chicken chop there, that's the price of steal already, considering USD exchange rate at 4.40 currently.
