The anniversary 2022 #Five

Famous curry noodle shop closed

Continue from the toilet emergency, we quickly search for a nearby restaurant (other than McDonald's, home minister insist we do not visir MekDee after 400km travel), and found a very famous curry noodle within walking distance.

The restaurant is only couple hundred meters ways from Starbucks, so we literally took a 5 minutes walk and not surprised by how easy we got there and seeing no crowd standing and waiting for seat. Apparently, the shop owner "just decided" to take a day off. This, is really similar to my home town, where restaurant operator doesn't give a damn, they decide when they wanna sell you food 😂

Row of restaurants at the local community shop houses

Home minister is very disappointed, I offered to drive to the near by hotel, may be pretend to check for price so she could use the loo, but she insist NOT. So we search for the next nearest restaurant. At that point of time, it's literally any restaurant at the nearest location. But still, due to coastal road condition and heavy trucks, we literally took another half an hour just to get out of the beach road.

Arriving at one of the nearest residential community, found the restaurant - semi closed 😂 note the shutter on the left is half opened as they're ready to close for half day rest. And the next door noodle shop is full of people. There's some extra chairs at the door, so customer can sit outside and wait for their turn.

We literally have no idea how do they conduct business. It's bright afternoon of Wednesday, and like half of these restaurant operator just decided they wanna take a day off and now we have a serious peesaster in development. The 3rd shop is a cafe, and it's closed, and there's no way we gonna drive again, so we took the chance on the 4th shop. How interesting they have 4 food operator at the same row of shop houses.

It wasn't our intention to visit a bak kut teh shop. I did previously introduced about this herbal soup dish, and it was originated and famous in Klang. It is a no brainer for us to come all the way 400km to eat something famous from where we came from. But then again, if we knew it will end up like this, could have just visit MekDee at the beach.

To our surprise! The owner did spoke Klang dialects, and the people who visit the restaurant seems local enough (except the 2 crazy tourists, me and waifu 🤣). We got ourselves a huge pot of herbal soup and mixed of pork ribs, knuckles and stomach. A plate of stir fried romain, each of us a cup of herbal tea to cool down. Taste is not the best, but it is above average! And it surprised me despite our tourist outfit, we paid less then RM40 for this meal! Dude! That's less than $10!

After lunch, we're supposed to go back to the hotel and take some rest, but then we really not going to spent too much time laying at the hotel bed. Moreover, there's not much TV channel to grind through. My house has more channel than the hotel. We decided to head to the town and visit the wall art street.

Not exactly sure since when, it's like every town will have a dedicated street that the local council allowed street art, probably more for tourism purpose than art itself. There one famous in Ipoh, one in Penang Island, one in Malacca, and now I know Kuantan has it.

Home minister pretending she's operating a trishaw. As far as I know, these stuff now only available in Penang Island and Malacca. Rest of the country are banned due to road safety.

Home minister pretend drying laundry with a wall art kid.

Home minister chased by alien

Me doing a barber hair cut despite not much left upstairs

Home minister wanted a close up shot of her riding a boat. However, the 64mpx quad lens will only give way too much detail and the angel of the connection of physical boat and the art become too obvious

Home minister gave up and ask for one last try. After this, she took out her selfie stick and work on her own magic

I took this photo not because of the wall art alone, it's the mini combo mono radio cassette player, that reminds me my dad also have one unit. Bring back lots of memory. That's like 40 years before mobile phone camera were introduced. The only affordable form of recorded memory being magnetic tape cassette.

after I read everything you wrote, this will be an inspiration for me, but what makes me smile to myself when I see the pictures of the Minister of Home Affairs taking pictures with the pictures or paintings on the walls,, it seems that the Minister of Home Affairs today is quite happy because there are some pretty beautiful paintings when he takes pictures, even there I saw the Minister of Home Affairs posing with alien paintings, and also riding in the garbage, as if the paintings were alive, maybe the artists already professional at painting,,, and I also saw a picture of you sitting to cut hair,, that's also quite impressive,,

because you have shared, I already know even though there is not much about the beauty of the paintings, for you @davidke20 I hope you are always healthy..

Those wall art were nice. Wish we have time to continue exploring more. Sorry for the late reply as I was preoccupied with work after the vacation.

What a cool idea to play with the street art like this, nice haircut. The restaurant is in a very unassuming location, how did you find it? I assume google maps, but here in Cambodia little places like this still aren't internet savvy yet, so would mostly go undiscovered by outsiders if not on a major street.

Well, due to the lack of toilet at the Starbucks, we're actually searching for restaurant, so we can quickly take a leak and found these restaurants 😂
