That kopi kulcher

(Edited)

I began my coffee experience at a very young age. My dad was a coffeeholic (probably still is if he can find coffee at the after life), we used to maintain a very tight nit coffee family ritual, especially between him, myself and my sister. My brother & my mom not so, I don't remember seeing them drinking much coffee all my life. Nevertheless, they're being very supportive to us kopi consumers in the house.

What coffee do i like? Well, the local ones. Not that I don't like the branded coffee, but the price tag being one of the major concern in terms of picking a beverage I'd like to consume 2 to 3 times a day, I'd take the cheap ass local coffee anytime. J Co a liter coffee is one of my latest favorite though. Partly because of the volume, and i love milk. I think they brew 2 to 3 shots of espresso, dump them in a liter bottle. I know I'm slightly lactose sensitve nowadays, but i just don't care if my butthole atart spitting coffee beans, because I like the creaminess. Damage? Can't remember exactly. This thing usually came with a huge combo of half a dozens of donuts that costs us around 30. 6 donuts and a liter of liquid nitrogen bomb latte, why not?

Whilst we have some of the most significant local coffee, we also have some sort of "nearly there" traditional coffee. No I haven't been to one of these, as far as i know, the shop being burnt down during a wood fire couple of years back. Well, I heard there's still similar naming Setarbak Kopi in our neighboring country the republic of Indonesia. Who knows one day i get a chance to visit. We will come back to local coffee again shortly. Let's get down with branded boutique coffee first.

This is my first Caveman coffee experience. I've joined this company for about a year now, until now only i take the chance to visit. The shop layout is a prehistorik theme and serving cakes as well.

The price range... I will let me face do the talking. Having an iced coffee for 15 bucks is NOT really that down to earth, considering that greenish branding famius coffee chain selling an iced latte for 15 bucks. Taste wise, its more lean to dark roast, a dash of honey at the bottom does bring up a little special burst of flowery taste to the coffee beverage. Not too bad, will i come back for a 2nd time? I may, but it will have to wait, until one day i decided i wanted honey in a latte.

Kopikku latte is one of the most significant beverage from the Haruka bread shop, the same building in our office at the lower ground floor. Frankly, i didn't come for the coffee, but the milk. For a very long time i couldn't make up my mind for what i like with this coffee, until one day i saw the staff started mixing fresh milk with condensed milk to thicken the milk, then i know. The bottom part is brown sugar. Damage 9.9 for a tall beverage, consider bargain. 8.8 for a grande.

Dunkin Donuts coffee is known to be one of the best coffee in the America i guess? But it has never gain traction in Malaysia afterall. One thing i believe DD got the idea wrong is, ee Malaysians usually premixed sugar and milk in our coffee here locally. When you make an iced milk coffee and send it together with a sweet donut to a malaysian, the next thing is DD will be getting complaints of the coffee tasteless, because the tastebud being spoilt by the donuts 😂 naturally, their all day breakfast, sunny side is not sweet, the combo actually saved DD coffee from being expelled from their menu! Total damage, together with the muffin and the iced coffee, 10.50! Not bad not bad!

Now this is rather unusual. Not everyone have a chance to get their tongue towards this baby. Its a regular street brew coffee by non other than our own food court Mr.Shan. When everyone lining up for their "kopi ais", we have a special code between the elite guests. When me and my buddy ordered Latay Ais, then we get kopi kapal api(fire vessel), with condensed milk. The uneven distribution of condensed milk marbling between the thick coffee, when you take a sip, those milk and coffee atarted blending on your tongue... I dont know how yo describe it any further. Damage 3 bucks.

Other than that, Mr.Shan also makes extremely well Malaysiano Ais, inline with Americano. I don't normally whack Latay Ais too often, considering I'm less active nowadays, my waist line already increased by couple of inches in diameter. Most of the time i will go with black coffee without sugar. We call it kosong (bare, nil, empty). This drink goes well with my unsweetened peanut butter spread on white bread for breakfast at the office.

These following few pictures will be the various local coffee, from states to states. Btw, Malaysia is actually a "united states". If you do not know, these pieces of land used to be different states owned by local chiefs and kings. I don't wanna dive in too far to the history, but this should suffice to let you know we also have our own texas accents here 😂

Just like the language accents, coffee from different states have their unique features. I can't possibly be introducing them one by one for few reasons. Mainly because i don't want this post drag until like reading an encyclopedia. The other thing is, even i myself haven't managed to tour all the states. I've only been to like 9 our of the 13 states in the country.

Some of the states, they have a stronger stomach that can take burnt roast coffee, i know i can't. If i take any of those charcoal juice, the next moment I'm probably lose control on my fart and feeling extremely uncomfrotable with my upper body. Some famous coffee from the north, my home town especially, famous with their white coffee, is probably one of the most newbie coffee one can imagine. When you cant drink coffee, make sure tou cover it with enough milk. Dont like the bitter taste? Put sugar to dial it in.

I can't really tell if I'm qualified as a coffee lover, but I'm sure is a coffee hustler. I used to spent time searching for good coffee, but now i just don't care anymore. A coffee is a coffee. I drink it when i want it. I put milk when i want it milky. I put sugar when i want a rush.

I can't imagine anyone ever paying $15 for a coffee. That is absurd.

I thought that might be the case. I didn't know anyone referred to Ringgit as bux :)

Ah. Locally, our powderful engrish being deeply influenced by Hollywood, despite we don't "sounded" like the Merican, but many of our local communication are based on what we learnt from action movies. Mericanized.
