Taman Metropolitan - our urban lake side park

The park is strategically located at the northern side of Kuala Lumpur. If you can find the outer ring road, stick to it and follow the direction go north, you just can't miss this place.

There's multiple entrances to the park. One is the main entrance located by the ring road, another at the government project high density affordable apartment, and one at the side of a commercial and residential area.

I picked the commercial and residential area because I have an appointment there at the restaurant later that morning to meet some friends for breakfast. Local hawkers are taking the opportunity to setup their range of merchant to sell to park goers.

There's more than 3 separate lanes one can use. Due to Malaysian practice right hand drive, therefore the flow in the track is counter clockwise(mostly). The middle track in blue is supposed to be the bicycle lane, but what do you know. Malaysians are cabale of going with all the wrong lanes all the time.

This is the man make lake this park is famous for. Technically, golden hour should be the best time to take photo, but it has been many cloudy days and night recently. So, usually in the morning it's all grey.

The jogging track used to be paved with recycled rubberized material. However, certain portion of it are broken, better be careful and watch where you jog.

Majority of the lake side has some sort of high rise building projects going on. What can I say? There's no beach here in Kuala Lumpur, therefore lakeside become area become one of those most expensive piece of land at the capital city of Malaysia.

There's this beautiful paddock that used to dock a bunch of pedal crafts that allow people to paddle glading the lake. However, I don't see them anymore since covid.

There's also a small skating platform allowed skater to practice, and also children's playground.

As you walk towards the direction of the ring road, there's a lot more low cost apartment building around this area. There's slight up hill slope in this area, please monitor your heart rate if you're not a regular walker.

As I have mentioned earlier, the lake side is a piece of expensive land nowadays. You can a lot more new buildings work in progress.

If you so happen bump into events, you'll most paobably going to get stuck when people started gathering and doing exercise by big groups.

The playground I have mentioned above, is a cut through path leading to the other side of the gathering spot.

From here you can see the far end, there's white tent setup by the event organizer. I think that day there was a sports day for an international school as I can see there's heavy traffic going on.

The cut through path has a signage put right at the middle of the walk path. Don't know what they're thinking, are we not supposed to use this route?

Lost count of construction in progress. Building constructor has been making high rise building like a wild fire going on.

There's a small jetty here as well. However, I haven't seen any boat docking here. It will be nice to have a short boat ride from this dock.

Despite I did the cut through, I still ended up bump into a bunch of event goer that doing exercise at the middle of the track. Well, proceed with cautious to avoid knock into people.

More school event going on at the playground.

Just before I go, the sun was alright high at 8am in the morning. it's about time going back to the restaurant and meet my friends.

The parking area is so pack, probably due to the school event that drives all the parents here to join their children. The conclude my morning walk and almost hit by a car at the parking lot.

Last but not least, on my way back to the restaurant, I walked past one of these lake side apartment, and there was a banner beside the building boasting their construction completed 1 year ahead of schedule. I'm not sure if it's something to celebrate for, or to worry about.

"Is the building still there?" would be my worry :)
But it starts with cracks, yes

Those lakeside apartments are a bit depressing if you ask me. I suppose there is nowhere to go but up in KL though. The park looks great buddy.. what a wonderful respite in the urban sprawl.

Urban area housing comes with crazy prices, that's for sure.

You captured some nice photos of this place.
Overall your ending statement captures well the overall feel of the environment throughout this post.
It's this over imposing presence of high-rise structures casting an imprisoning feel to the patch of grass it hovers over.
I just can't see it any other way really, and I personally feel like those kind of living structures are inhumane because they are built for profit and just stack people in like sardines.
What's good about them? The plumbing?

Those inhumane structure costs no less than half a million each unit 😕 I haven't been in there, but I own one of those. It's just the way how the urban area is, where we can no longer afford landed property anymore.

How long does it take to re-coup your investment on a half million dollar unit?

When profit based models are the forefront of real estate, the tenants are the one's to feel the pressure.

Less material cost, more units, smaller living space.

I guess a bit of morality must be removed when investing into large complexes.

The logic could also be flipped around to low income housing for the homeless, and in this sense would be a good thing.

I suppose it's a matter of perspective, but I bet no weed farmers are living in those things :D

Sorry I was "away" the past 2 weeks. I will never be able to recoup my 700k, as at now the loan and repayment total amount has mounting up to 2.1mil 🙄 say no more, I'm married. Until death, or bankruptcy... do us apart 🤣
