Dramatic congee lunch
Kuala Lumpur is a high spending place to live. From the fancy restaurant all the way down to road side crazy Chinese traditional restaurants, non of them can be "cheap".
This lead to one of our crazy lunch with the young colleagues. They are young and wanting to explore good food, best part of it being, they can eat a lot. Me being the old schooler, now I can share with these young punks on different dishes.
Chicken feet is one of the old school dish. If you think it's disgusting, then you're missing a lot. This is probably the only part that has more "skin" then meat you'll have to deal with. It has been de-socks, so not to worry.
Spicy and sour asam spinach is the alternative kimchi of the Chinese style. The spiciness will keep you stuffing porridge down your throat, but the tanginess will keep you eating it. vicious cycle, but you just can't stop it.
I don't know how to call this, tofu skin? bean curd skin? When cook a bowl of soy solution, the top layer that hardened, this is that. Infused it with the traditional Chinese sauce, perfect form of protein for the non meat dietry.
Pig ear being simmer for hours to soften the bones, this thing is full of pig fats at the same time the soft bone makes it explode in your mouth. Every bite of this pig ears felt like flavor explosion in my mouth.
Vinegar pig skin is relatively new to me. I don't normally take this kind of pig skin, I like roast better. But this is not bad too.
Luncheon meat is nothing more than a meatloaf. It's not a must, but this reminds me of my younger years when my dad lost his firm, we're stuck home eating porridge and sharing a piece of meat for a meal.
Dishes keep building up, on the left is chres mackerel in fermented soy bean, on the right is fried anchovies with ground nuts. These are usually "condiments" to go with congee, we can eat this with white rice also.
Cured duck eggs is also one of the most important condiments in eating congee. Besides that is rolls of pig intestines. Not for the fainted heart, but if you found a shop knows their shit.... I mean literally know how to cook that thing that hold shit 🤣 it's a very delightful dish. Lightly chewy, but the layers of intestines helps to retain the secret Chinese sauce.
Anyway, I went too far and I had my lunch with 3 bowls of white congee. For 5 person lunch, it set us back some 130 Ringgit. that's like $30 for 5 person. Not too bad right, consider the amount of food we consumed.

very extraordinary lunch menu, I'm so drooling looking at it
I may have not tried some of the foodies served there but I see that they are all delicious. Happy eating and I hope you are having a great day my friend.
Thanks Pink. It's good old Chinese recipe. Not too healthy though
IT IS NOT! I LOVE CHICKEN FEET!
🤣
I am missing roasted duck though. It has been a while since I had some. 😁
!PIZZA
Glad you like chicken feet too. I can't take much roast duck nowadays, unless it has been chopped down to smaller piece. My teeth isn't working with me. I don't wanna take one bite and leave my teeth stuck on the meat 😅

The food looks delicious. 30$ for 5 person is very cheap. In Canada a lunch for 5 person is hard to get for under 100$. I went with the family yesterday for a breakfast 🥞. Ouch.
Different living standard bro. Over here, an average hour wage is around $2.5 😅 stuff are "cheap", so as labor
I understand didn't mean to be rude
When you talk about those things that are full of shit, I think that those who cook this must have extraordinary cleanliness, well, I guess they know how to prepare it, another thing is that I haven't eaten duck eggs, well, I really haven't eaten much of what they I see here, but if I had the choice I would eat duck eggs and also duck
These are traditional Chinese dish, even myself can't take the taste of it 😵💫 it's not that it's not nice, it's just way too heavy. We have lighter version of the roast duck and fried noodle with duck eggs, but that will be next time
