It takes no more than pandemic to be lazy

All we need is a reason to keep walking. I'm blessed during this entire 10 years, as I've been walking/jogging and evening running at one point in my life. I've witnessed many different types of people going to the park, and also witnessed nobody going to the park, and surprised to find too damn mange people going to the park as if going for black Friday.

Many years ago, I've got some quite serious health condition, that the doctor requesting me to either take pills to keep me alive, or I need to change my lifestyle. Since then, I took the initiative to eat "slightly" less and keep myself active most weekends. It's funny back then when I can run, I actually started competing with other runners. I know I didn't admit it, deep down in my heart I'm actually envying why others can keep running for hours, and I will have to take some seriously heavy rest after a couple of kilometers.

And then, later stage I also found my knees were probably injured by my body weight, can't keep taking the kind of punishment from the running. Once again, I was there looking at other people despite they're jogging, but their pace is even slower than me walk. I have always looked at these slow joggers and sarcastically told them in my head, dude if you jog so slowly, might as well just walk.

I have a series of pandemic photography back in the lockdown days. I am one of those very few that so daring to go out for a jog despite the lockdown. I enjoyed the empty park very much since very few going to the park, air is much fresher without having stupid mother joggers who wear perfume for a run. I will leave the description of the smell of, between a rotten lemonade and a bag of crushed hard boiled eggs.

Once the lockdown being lifted, the amount of people rushing into healthy lifestyle suddenly increased drastically. So many people headed to the park as if they're going for black Friday or big bad wolf shopping spree. The influx of health minded people and perfume almost drove me away, not forgetting those who tie shoelaces every couple hundred meters.

Just when I thought there were enough health minded mother joggers around, I should get a treadmill and workout at home, and then they suddenly vanished. I get it, we don't really need any excuse to stop working out, but we do require all the reasons getting started. For me, the air is fresher without perfume and boiled eggs, and nobody suddenly stopped in front of me to tie shoelaces, and most of all no longer need to anticipate mother parkers park their parking car at the parking pedestrian walk.

I've been struggling with running for tears - I just cannot run. I find it annoying and it feels like some kind of torture.
But I like walking, so August last year I decided I am gonna walk instead of running - and it worked. I lost like 10kg straight away.

Initially I was walking 100km per week, then 80, now 60ish (it takes too long to walk - 80km per week is 2.5hrs x 5 days)

I can eat what I want (without going crazy ofc - chocolate "diet" is out of question xD)

So if anyone else strugglrs with running - start walking :)
