Walk Like a Big Horned Sheep

IMG_20240918_191112_Original.jpeg

So we are driving around the town of Radium, minding our own business, and suddenly the traffic comes to a stop. A family of Big Horn sheep has decided that now was a good time to mosey on down the road. For a keen photographer like myself, I welcomed the chance to grab a few wildlife pics! Now at a glance, they don’t necessarily look like “sheep”, but in fact they are officially called “Big Horn Sheep”. You will typically find that this animal is quite prevalent throughout the Canadian Rockies, and mostly they just seem to ignore us humans; so getting some decent close up photos is usually possible. Thanks for stopping by.

At first I thought that all photographs are of the same sheep. Later, I looked closely and realized that all are different. Pretty interesting creatures!

They must have sensed that a keen photograph was travelling through that street! !LOL

Three different Sheep here. Love these guys, you typically find them anywhere near mountains, but they dont really climb too high, that is for the mountain goats. Thanks for stopping in.

The sheep's horns remind me of bicycle handlebars when I was little.

I'm used to seeing those sheeps with a lot of fleece or wool on their body. However I guess this is a different species. Quality shots though hahaha, can't betray the photography instincts in you.

Typically when someone thinks of "sheep" you imagine like hundreds grazing on a field with a Shepard or something, but these are much different obviously. Thanks for stopping by.

You're right, they're different and it's the first time I'm seeing sheeps as this one.

I see the pictures and it reminds me of some sheep and goats we used to have, some of them could have big bodies and were even big in size, especially the males.

They look like goat with horn, more like ram. Am trying to figure out something so they do allow animals to just walk around and cross the road over there. Cause this animal feels so confident doing it

That is funny! It doesn't appear to be afraid of people at all, they must live within the city limits and thus can't be hunted! lol
