Turtles of Yankee Lake

avatar
(Edited)

What a day it was, we came across some turtles, sunbathing on this log! Incredible. Never seen anything like it before. Wow. It was a beautiful day to be out on the hiking trail. Once again, very few people out on the trail, must be due to the fact that Yankee lake is not inside a national park, but inside a provincial park. Inside Premier Lake Provincial park, East Kootenay, British Columbia to be exact. What have you been up to this Summer? Lakes, hiking, just relaxing?

The turtle looks really great, being able to walk on wood surrounded by water, it looks like it is walking on a bridge without walls. this is amazing.

Turtles are graceful animals, such a beautiful shot. Again the clarity of the water is just lovely

Oh my!... Beautiful creatures, but I never imagined that turtles lived in lakes like that, where winter temperatures must be very low... It is a fascinating example of the adaptability of these creatures... Excellent photos!... Thanks for this post @daveks friend!

I didn't realize there were turtles in Canada, but why wouldn't there be? They live most everywhere else. Very nice shots you got of them. It's always fun to see turtles sunning themselves!

I love how peaceful it must have been with so few people around. I've never seen turtles sunbathing before, but it must have been such a cool experience! I’m really into nature and hiking too, would love to explore a place like that one day.
