the Totem Pole
(Edited)
Let's go back in time, back to 1953. Old enough to remember that? Yeah, me neither. This one dollar stamp depicts a Pacific coast first nation’s house and totem pole. These tall totem poles tend to be found in western North American locations. The poles have multiple carvings of both symbols and figures.
Fast forward to 1966. We have a 5 cent stamp commemorating the 300th anniversary of La Salle’s arrival in Canada, otherwise known as New France at the time. La Salle was one of many “explorers” to make the journey from Europe to this new crazy land, eventually to be named Canada.
Last but not least, we have the recently deceased Queen Elizabeth depicted in a 5 cent stamp. This stamp was issued to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of conferences that led to the signing of the British North America act, otherwise known as Canada’s constitution, which officially took effect in 1867. That being said, Canada’s birthday is just around the corner, July 1st.

It is nice to know how the pictures in each stamp, has a deep history behind it. The late Queen Elizabeth stamp probably should be published very recently, I belive. Anyway a good source of research has been done.
I’m learning myself as well, doing some research on the fly. It can be interesting. Thanks for your comments.
The Queen Elizabeth stamp feels especially timely. Researching these details adds so much to the appreciation of these artifacts. nice one sharing it good friend
Yes, she passed away in late 2022. Canada has issued a commemorative coin set, but not stamps yet, too my knowledge, which does seem somewhat odd actually. Thanks for stopping by.
Yeah it really does seem odd🤔 .... It was a pleasure stopping by good friend
What beautiful stamps! All nicely centered and I love the artwork. I know I've said this before but they don't make them like they used to... Got to go with the color with stamps though. That certainly is a much younger Queen Elizabeth, I prefer her younger portraits on stamps and coins. Poor Charles never had that chance!
!LOL
He doesn’t look quite as good as the queen did, I suppose we may be biased though. The King Charles coins and stamps do add new flare to us collectors though! Thanks for stopping by.
I was missing seeing these postage stamps in macro!.... Wonderful!

The first and last time I saw postage stamp was when I was trying to get an admission into the Uni.
Although we don't use it as often here, but there's something about stamps that give me the vintage vibes, Love it! 😍

These are cool ones, love the post. Stamps are so dang cool and I do wish I still had my collection, lost through traveling and living in other countries.
Can always start it up again, if you so wanted to..
