Summer, Winter Photos
You would never guess that these photos were taken in the heart of Summer! This is what the mountainside looks like, as seen from the open-air chairlift, returning from a great day of hiking at Sunshine Meadows, Banff/Kootenay National Parks. Makes one wonder when the snow actually does fully melt, could be August sometime. I’m not even sure actually. Maybe I should go back this August and find out! So far, it looks like we are heading back to Lake Louise and Moraine Lake this July for sure anyways, can hardly wait.

Makes me feel cold just looking at it. How warm does it get up there in the heart of summer?
Lovely shots!
We were hiking in t-shirts actually, although it was a tad windy. Temperature was in the low 70’s or so. Thanks @coloneljethro
Nice! Kinda surprised, the Rockies in Colorado had snow in July and August when I was there in 2017 but it never got that warm at the elevations the snow was at, just 50s and windy as hell.
The wind can make all the difference, but direct sunlight can make lower temperatures tolerable. I was kinda guessing at low 70’s, but I’m sure it would have been at the very least in the mid 60’s or more.

I have been skiing at Banff in May, so I do know that they are open with snow in May. (or can be) I believe they have moments of no snow up there, but, it is possible to have snow in the odd moments too Looks like a nice day thee!
I love Spring skiing where you can get away with fewer clothes.
I bet it was a great day! Thanks for giving us the view from the top!

It has been awhile since I actually skied in the mountains, I'll take the summer over the winter. I do need to explore skiing again someday though!
Use it or lose it. True story. :)
Yes, very true.

That's so coo to see the snow & feel the heat. An Rm400?
I think a trial bike would be more in order.
Yes, thinking about it now, yes.
The snow is melting quite slowly, make me really imagine how thick it might be in the first place. Radiant sunshine there. These are lovely shots.
Thick, yes good question. I imagine in the dead of winter, the snow drifts are quite deep.
Snow during the summer times, cool !! Must be very slippery when hiking up there but beautiful view and great photo @daveks
The hiking trails are mostly clear, but definitely some muddy sections to deal with.
The melting snow looks amazing. I really like the way the texture of the snow looks with the rocky terrain :)
It was cool in real life.
Stunning snow textures!...
