Smokescape

IMG_3635.jpeg

Today I present to you a landscape, but a landscape filled with forest fire smoke. I call it a “Smokescape”. Smokey landscapes look best in Black & White in my opinion, therefore I’m leading with those today. The colours just don’t look all that great, but that is just the reality of what it looked like. I suppose we could have just decided to sit the day out and not go hiking into the wilderness, but that just doesn’t sound very fun. A little smoke won’t Kill you anyhow, and as it turned out, there were quite a few people out on the trail that day. This is the hiking trail to Minnestimma lakes, also known as the Larch Valley hike at Moraine Lake, Banff National Park, Alberta.

Agreed—the monochrome look much better. Fantastic photos!

Breathing that junk in can have some nasty long term effects so if the PM level gets too high, might want to consider wearing a mask outside. But anyway, stay safe!

Yes for sure @dbooster. Hoping for clear skies when I go out again in July.

It is very sad to read about the forest fires in Canada.
I hope that they will be controlled soon.

It is always good to observe all the landscapes, without interruption, however @daveks we must make people aware that smoke from fires is not only harmful to the landscape, it is also harmful to people. Good luck and thanks for your continuous visits to my publications. successes

What a pity about the fires and you are right it is better to use black and white and despite everything they are very good shots.

The sunlight streaming through the clouds is lovely in that first image. It must be so wonderful having places like this so close to you.

I have heard there are some fires up there and I hope you're all safe.

It was wonderful, minus the smoke, but still worth it for sure!
