Smoke on the Water
(Edited)
A couple more shoreline photos taken yesterday at Smokey Moraine Lake, Banff Park, Alberta. All in all it was a good day of hiking, minus the smoke of course, from them pesky forest fires in neighbouring British Columbia. When I saw these canoes and the surrounding smoke, the song “Smoke on the Water” came to mind. What a great title I thought, because we had smoke on the water for real! Wouldn’t you love to take one of these canoes out for a spin? Make sure you have deep pockets though, as it is about $100 for one hour of canoeing. The hike I did was the Larch Valley hike, which ends at Minnestimma Lakes. For those with extra energy to burn, you can keep going up to Sentinel Pass via the zig zag trail. I made it almost half way up the zig zag, then decided to call it a day and return back.

Heavens!... What amazing postal @daveks friend!!!... Impressive!
Thank you sir!
Nice Photos, your profile pic is Lake Louise so I see you frequent these parts. Would like to go up to Moraine lake but the parking situation has been atrocious. Any suggestions?
Best bet is to book the shuttle in advance from: https://reservation.pc.gc.ca/Banff-LakeLouise?Type=7&language=en&_ga=2.23675321.240321276.1663113945-382698902.1663113945&gccf=true arrive early if you can, then expect to wait about 30 min to board. On the way back, expect to wait 30 or so to board the return bus. Or drive there around 6am, but not even sure if that will work.
Thanks, never thought of the bus idea. Maybe we will go there this weekend. I'd like to hike up to the tea house too!
With all the congestion, probably need to go to Moraine or Lake Louise. Too inconvenient to try both. If your going for the tea hut, then it will have to be Lake Louise.

Yeah, no doubt. Thanks!
Wow, these are nice shots here. Amazing pictures, amazing place.
Thanks, it was amazing!
Nice Daveks, my wife is out in Banff/Louis area this week, I wasn't able to go as well, would have been cool to hike together. Take care my friend, nice shots at the lake.
Thanks, it was fun. Would have been better without the smoke though.
these amazing smoked scenes.
but the prices.... :-O
I guess sometimes one needs to spend a bit of $!
"a bit" :-)
but you're right
Wow! That first photo is incredible and beckons canoeists to float across the misty waters regardless of the cost 🛶 🏞 🛶
Excellent song choice that came to mind for the first image "Smoke on the Water!" @daveks
For this set I prefer the color photos that better enhance the clarity of Smokey Moraine Lake - I can see straight to the bottom of the waters.
I would have loved to be canoeing that day, only thing was, my plan was to go hiking. I did some canoeing here a few years ago and it was pretty awesome!
These are awesome pictures you have taken bro, I have never been on this wonderful place before, hope I can visit here too
Nice to see you're taking time in your happy place. The smoke is unfortunate right now. It's nice we are getting some rain. The myst makes for very pretty views if u ask me. Such a nice time to enjoy a bowl of soup. Can't say i am excited to hike, the smoke is irritating the past few days. I always looking forward to the wonderful images you capture!! Wishing you wonderful and safe travels!!
Yeah, it's either hike with some smoke or no hiking. So the obvious choice is to hike! Are you still going to be at Emerald or moving on to another lake resort?
I hope you enjoyed an amazing time in your happy place. For now i am still living at Emerald Lake. Hopefully soon i will live in Banff for a change. :)
Wow, that's a very beautiful place.
I can always be entertained by your posts.
Thanks bud
