Rocky Mountain Paintings

What struck me as I was editing these photos, was that these photos were looking more and more like paintings, and less and less like an actual photo. What do you think? I don’t know, must have something to do with the vivid greenery mixed in with blue skies and lake colours (or maybe just my imagination). Plenty of snow on this mountain, considering that it was mid-July when these photos were taken! Apparently there was more snowfall in 2021/2022 than usual. At least in this area. I’m thinking about going again this summer, hopefully there will be less snow next time around.

They sooo look like a painting, it's the snowbanks!! Gorgeous view!! One of my friends paints these types of photos in watercolor when I post some.

The snow tends to stay a while up there in places. I did a hike in the last week of june and I had to turn around because I wasn't equipped to walk in 6 ft of melting hollow snow and was sinking waste deep.

I always have a preference for the color photos 😍

Yeah, hiking in June can be a total gamble. But sometimes one just has to go out and enjoy nature no matter what the circumstances. Thanks for stopping by.

Yes indeed just enjoying nature is what it's all about. I climbed 7 k up the mountain and had 1 last km. Probably why it bummed me out a little. I still very much enjoyed it tho.

Always happy to stop by!

What you got planned for your next hike?

Going to hike to work hopefully...haha

I didn't really look for a next hike, I let cheap-er last minute hotel deals dictate my next hike...We found emerald lake for 200/night in november (normally 700/night). I have been wanting to do Mount Robson again for a while but it's been closed, a flood washed out the trail, probably from the same unusually large snowfall and fast melting. If it opens this summer, it might be where I would like to go next.

How about you? You and your son have a cool summer spot decided on yet?

It all hinges on whether or not we win the Lake O'Hara lottery or not. Fingers crossed!

I tried going there last winter but it looked like a longer hike than I wanted to take or was prepared for that day, how long is it?

Either way, it's still on my to do list.

The hike in is 11km. Certainly a tough one in the winter. The ticket is to do it in summer and take the shuttle bus up, only thing is they have a lottery to reserve because it is so popular. Starts April 12th or so I think.

OMG good to know, my pick-up and go self will have to plan ahead then. Surprising because there isn't too many places to stay near-by.

I think the second picture looked more like a painting because of the landscape, the tall grasses and the beautiful scenery, artists love to paint this way. Astonishing shot by all means. Wow.

That first shot almost looks like a painting. The realism would be stunning in its detail but I have seen some that mail it almost as real as a photo.

The second one, there is something powerfully distinguishable about how the sun paints a unique flare onto every little surface that would almost be impossible in a painting.

Still fantastic art whether painted or photographed.

Thanks @zekepickleman for your comments, glad you liked it. Looking forward to getting some sunset pics sometime soon (its been awhile since the last shoot).

This work is very good.

I like the color works a little more. But, I don't give credit to the black and white ones, most of the time they seem to me to be done in graphite and that's amazing.

Thank you very much for the invitation to the initiative. If it is not too much trouble, can you pass me the post where it is explained how to participate.
