Prince of Wales Waterton

avatar
(Edited)

Built in 1927, the Prince of Wales hotel is an iconic historic hotel sitting just above Waterton Lake. When one thinks of Waterton Park, this hotel usually comes to mind or will come up in a search result. Apparently it was named after the prince in order to convince him to stay at the hotel during his visit to Canada. In the end, he did not stay at the hotel, but the name stuck. So as we entered the front doors, I was expecting something similar to the Banff Springs hotel experience. Big difference. Beautiful to look at from the outside, but sort of dingy and unkept on the inside. Not sure what the price was to stay, likely expensive, not for me though. The view from the dining room is pretty awesome though. All in all, an interesting experience checking this place out!

This photography is shot with great feeling where the mountains look high and the houses below are really a sight to behold. But there may be danger of accidents here. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful photography

Yes, it is very close to the mountainside, some would say there is a little danger in that. Just hours from here, there was a small town devastated from a mountain rockslide. Thanks for coming by.

The design of the architecture of such a building is certainly quite good. And what's more, it is located in beautiful places so it is quite entertaining if we enjoy the atmosphere in that place.

It's a very beautiful place, plus, since the price didn't stay there, leaving the name that way is good PR

It is a pretty good name for a hotel actually. Thanks for looking.

Wow!... I love #Hive because I always find something new, I always learn something new... I didn't know about this spectacular place with that almost century-old hotel!... It looks like it came straight from Switzerland!... And the view from inside is truly superb!... Beautiful place, excellent photos as always @daveks friend!

I have an honest question for you, which photo do you think I should have led with, the one I chose or the 2nd? I swapped at the last minute. Thanks as always.

What an amazing structure built, with some very good shots to show it off. The second shot is perfection with the mountains in the background, so nice my friend. Have a blessed one.

Impressive from the outside for sure. It looks like they need to gut the inside and refurbish the place though! There are a lo of hotels like that. Beautiful location and interesting history. Apparently the prince didn't like it enough to stay there!

Maybe it was a difficult place for the Royal secret service to guard?! Lol. Who knows.
