Next Stop: Laryx Lake

Now rounding third lake, Laryx lake is what it is called. Sort of an odd name, apparently “Laryx” is Latin for Larch, and there are plenty of Larch trees in the area. This lake is the largest of the three, Grizzly being the smallest, and Rock Isle in the middle. Surprisingly, there were not that many other hikers on the trail that day, even though the weather was pleasant, and it was end of season, meaning the area and gondola were closing for the year. Just a few kilometres away, the townsite of Banff, I’m sure was crawling with people and tourists!

Lush forests are always ready to beautify the appearance of the lake so that it looks more charming. White clouds are no less ready to protect climbers from the hot sun. The wooden bridge reminds me of the beautiful turtle.

The lake is quite nice and beautiful and the location of the place also looks quite interesting and I like nice mountains.

This place is about an hour and a half away from the big city (Calgary). Thanks.

Autumn's subtle beauty made sharper in black and white ... that last one looked like it was full of blossoms of snow and ice, presaging winter!

Yes the black n whites do add a certain kind of "sharpness". Thanks for liking,

I thought that since Christmas is holiday season, the operators of the gondola will keep it functioning for people who will be coming here, so how come they're closing for the year?

The hiking season comes to a close towards end of September, then the snow flies in November and its go time for skiing and snowboarding (below Sunshine meadows). There is no skiing or boarding on the very top which is Sunshine meadows.

Okay, I guess it has to do with the different seasons.

Yes, things really don't get going till December when there is adequate snow, but of course they have snow machines that make it too.

Some more great shots! The first and third are really nice, but I love mountain lakes! The wooden trail path is a nice feature, is it a bit of a marsh through there or maybe it floods easily? At least you had a chance to take in the beauty before they closed down for the season!

More of a marsh area I'd say. We got there in the Knick of time, just before season end. What a thrill it was! Thanks for looking.
