Edmonton Oil Fields

(Edited)

Let’s take a journey back in time, back to 1967. Canada post issued 7 different centennial stamps to commemorate our 100th birthday. Yes, Canada is not as old as the USA! The $1 stamp featured here represents the Alberta oil fields or sands. If you have not heard, Alberta has always been somewhat famous for its rich deposits. In most provinces we have typically 2 taxes: The GST and PST. Alberta with its additional oil revenue, needs only to have the GST tax. Who wouldn’t want to live in Alberta? The 50 cent stamp represents any prairie town grain elevators. The Canadian prairies of course are well known sources of wheat and barley production. The 25 cent stamp represents a ”wilderness landscape”, similar to British Columbia. Which is your favourite?

Those are nice stamps! I like the one dollar best with all the details, second favorite is the 25 cent for the same reason. Those are nice!

My favourite is the dollar as well. It is slightly off centred though if you look closely.

It is isn't it? I'm not a stamp guy, does that increase or decrease the value? I know errors in coins raise the value.

In this case, the valued is lowered by probably 20% or so. That being said, the stamp isn’t worth more than about $5 anyways.

What a nice throwback of the Long aged Canada and it's domains.

Nice pictures though.

Thanks for the post though
