Edge of Kananaskis

On this particular hike, I did not take that many pictures. Two posts will wrap up this journey in fact. “Fullerton Loop” is located on the eastern edge of Kananaskis country, Alberta. Bigger hills around here, but the mountains themselves don’t start to materialize for another handful of kilometres or so to the west. Nonetheless, it was a fun encounter to walk around this area. One of the funnest parts was this little squirrel I ran into. He was kind enough to pose for a couple of pics.

Nice greenery in the first photo. Far view gives the look of a dense forest. In the second picture, at first glance I thought a big snake under the long chair. But I think its a piece of log or root of the tree. And yes the squirtel has posed well with stuffed mouth. Last one, is it a wild flower. Looks colourful.

I believe it is a long and gnarly tree root. Sometimes those longer roots make for a bit of a challenge when hiking the hills. Thanks for stopping by.

The scene in the first shot is amazing! The gradient colors show how huge the area is. I'm amazed! And so is the squirrel carrying an acorn. It made me remember the movie Ice Age. 😂

Yes, now that you mention it, Ice age does come to mind. It's been ages since I saw that movie! Thanks for dropping a comment.

Squirrels don't seem to be scared or shy around this area, maybe it's because this area is protected from hunting?

Probably because they are used to being around people hiking by them every day. Typically even if hunting were allowed in this area, they wouldn't go after the squirrels.

I love squirrels, cute little animals. Great shot you got of him. They have some beautiful flowers along the trail from the two you shared so far. I love running into wild flowers when I'm in the hills or mountains. The beauty of the outdoors! Thanks for sharing those, you always have some great shots!

Amazing life and nature captured on your way. If we take the time, if we just stop and take a breath, we might be able to enjoy the beauty around us.
