Danger Quicksand

IMG_20230706_120221_Original.jpeg

I thought quicksand was found generally in remote regions like South America and in movies. It certainly was a surprise to see this sign while walking around Annette lake, here inside Jasper National Park. I would not have ventured near this “side-pond”, but you know kids, they go here there and everywhere. Always need to keep a close eye on the kids, while out and about. There was a bench close by here, so we decided to stop for lunch break and take a load off. Did you go anywhere fun this past Summer?

Looks like a good place to shoot a scene in a movie. Is that the locnest monster in the water in one of the shots?

Whoa!

This is my best of all! Never get tired of your photographs. I'm sincerely amazed by your camera skills. I wondered how the camera could go so far.

I never considered quicksand so dangerous until I got an experience, which almost got me into a ugly pickles. Luckily, I got some reflexes.

Thanks so much for sharing, they're all really awesome 🤗🤗.

Quicksand was a big thing when I was a kid! "They" made it seem like it was everywhere. Luckily for me and my friends we never actually found any that was deep enough to swallow us whole. 😮

Wonderful shots! We have some quicksand in Nunavut as well, although it's more like really slow sand, you gotta wiggle a LOT to sink down in it. And due to our permafrost, you can only sink about a foot.

That excellent first photo in horizontal format provides a relatively different view of the landscape there... Here, certainly, we do have some places with quicksand and swamps where the mud of the aquatic bed is a very high danger for anyone who ventures there by mistake... In fact, when I was a little boy, about four decades ago, I lost a friend (named "Melquiades") when he got stuck in mud while he was alone walking through a swampy area whose danger was not marked (and Even that muddy place is still there and almost unmarked by the way). .. It was a traumatic event for everyone in the town, especially for us as children...

Thanks for sharing @daveks friend!

Unfortunate that someone had to perish at such a young age. Very sad. Thanks @jlinaresp
