"Show Humanity" - Contest

Have you ever wondered about someone sleeping beside the trash can or begging for money? What is his story, and what has he experienced? Humans don't care about other people's pain, only our own. All the pain and memories end up being asked into mother earth. Time carried by the wings of the wind disappears, and we are left with the here and now. Or just an unfamiliar figure in some photographs. If we know their stories, we can help them and change their lives.

It's been on my mind for a while, a crazy little idea. Since joining Dreemport, I have wanted to do a little contest. A contest inspired by the pain of others' tears and names remembered only by death itself. Maybe then we will see through. To tell the stories of those we cannot see, whose pain we are blind to. We can't change the world, but we can at least show humanity. Maybe the bum you pass every day is someone's father. They don't have Hive or any other platform accounts, even phones, yet they are here, around us, part of humanity. And we can help them, help their stories be heard.

I want you to get out of your comfort zone for a little while, walk down the street and hear the stories of the forgotten society, and then tell them here. Buy them a snack, lunch, or even a bottle of water and just listen. You will see the real world we live in, hear stories much more interesting than books and movies, and explore forgotten times.

And you know what, you can even post it on Dreemport when it's not a challenge day.

Since when is being humane towards others a contest?
Doing good deeds for others does not entail documenting it and sharing it with others.

There are many people here who share what good they have done. All this remains in the blockchain, thus future generations will be motivated to help those in need. And at the same time we will learn to be better too. People suffer too much, what's wrong with wanting to help? Those who are willing can even give the reward of the story they have shared to the given person and thus provide food for them. Too many countries don't want to hear their pain and story, why should we behave this way too?

What is wrong is wanting personal reward, whether it be payment in HIVE, or social praise for "assisting" others. It puts the motivation in question.

If someone truly wants to help another, they do it out of empathy alone, not needing any witnesses, praise or reward.

To earn reward, payment or praise from sone one else's misfortune is to profit from their suffering. That's hardly caring or empathetic, rather cold and calculating.

It's just an initiative I decided to take. No one is obliged to join.
I don't want to repeat my opinion from another comment, but not all people are looking for personal gain or fame. Yes, nowadays most people are like that, but not everyone. It is these betrayals that make us look out for ourselves more and forgetting about the others. So, I completly understand you. 🙂

Ok, nice to hear that you're well.
Badger is perfectly fine. We had plans to leave her at a brokerage to sell and upgrade her for a bigger boat later in year. However, we found an immediate buyer, so our plans were brought forward. We will be traveling for a while and then resume boatlife in the Springtime:)

@darthsauron that you for still showing the world that there are people who actually cares for other, because we leave in a generation that does not care about our brothers or sisters any longer, we think about our pocket only, that is why we even kill and feel happy not minding what others feel.love this let's show more love to other.

This is amazing its another form of charity but in a different way. Alot of people in this world are hurt and they just cant lift up to a point were opportunities can find them... Its lovely of you to have such a lovely idea. Thank You 🤝

Yes, we all focus on the big charities, but we don't notice these people who are part of our everyday lives.
When we walk down the street, people hardly notice them. But they are part of our society, part of humanity. Seeing the differences in three or four generations on the streets, I am downright horrified. The elderly complain that they don't have enough money, the young and my generation, they talk about electronics, how they bought the latest model of iphone.
None of the poor complain - Ugh, I couldn't buy, a phone this month.
No, they stand full of hope that someone, if he/she has mercy on them, will give them money or food.

I just hate when people do humanity while recording the scene with their phone (example that they are doing it for fame). My family is also supporting orphanages but we are not recording it or sharing it in social media.

Yes, many people use kindness for popularity. Tiktok, YouTube, etc. Even in churches it's like that. Pastors use donations to buy cars and houses. But just because some people do it doesn't mean everyone is like that. Sometimes big campaigns to gain popularity make people think the worst, and much of their faith in good disappears. Hive is not like other platforms though, here we have the right to express our opinions freely. However, when we need help, these big campaigns or government institutions disappear because they won't achieve popularity if they help the commoners. Then it is we who can help them. Normal people. We have the desire and the means.
