There are definitely other things to consider. For instance, what is the carbon cost of manufacturing and maintaining solar panels? What is the environmental cost of manufacturing the Lithium batteries needed for electric cars? For newer green energy sources (particularly intermittent sources like wind and solar), we will need much better energy storage technology than the batteries we have today for it to truly replace fossil fuel sources.
Also, current carbon capture technology allows for the capture of 90% of the CO2 released by fossil fuel powered power plants and that may, in the not too distant future, reach 100%.
