Maybe you are seeing this and wondering what it is...

I've started experimenting with different ways to add sources to the family tree I've started building on Hive. The way I see it, I have the following options:

  1. Create a separate post (like this one) for each source

Pros are that it is easy to do, easy to link, can add formatting, and there are basically no restrictions.

Cons are that source text is not always enough to really be suitable for a standalone post and much of the text won't necessarily be "original" as it is often text quoted from or indexed from an existing source which may cause issues with the Hive police.

  1. Add source to the original post

Pros are mainly the same as above

Cons are that it is kind of messy and I don't think there is a way to actually link to a specific section of a post.

  1. Use a short form service like Leo Threads or Ecency Waves.

Pros: This works ok as long as the text is short enough and can still link the sources to the individuals.

Cons: If the text isn't short enough then you have to separate things out into multiple parts which is less than ideal

  1. Create a comment on the original post

Pros: Has most of the advantages of making a separate post plus less likely to get in trouble from the Hive police. I think I can link to a comment too unlike a section of a post. This is the only one of these options I haven't tried yet so that one will be up next.

Cons: Doesn't draw any attention that anything was updated. Would likely go unnoticed. Also can't really add a title.

I'm open to suggestions.
