Vintage Photos - eBay Set #2 (298-300)
I made some impulse buys after getting a new scanner and picked up a huge batch of slides a while back. These pictures span from as early as the late 1940s to as late as the early 1990s. These were from Goodwill and eBay (sometimes via estate sales). There are many thousands of these slides. I will be scanning some from time to time and posting them here for posterity.
This set continues a batch of slides that I bought on eBay a while back. I don't have as much to go on as to the ultimate origin of these compared to the previous batch I was working on. They came to me from eBay and most likely were picked up at an estate sale by the seller. Most of them seem to be taken in the 1960s and same individuals are included in many of the photos. It looks like there are some that were taken in Miami and some that were taken in New Jersey and perhaps elsewhere. I get the impression that Miami was a vacation spot for this family.
The first photo was processed in June 1968 and features a couple of cats. One looks like it is enjoying the heat output of the vent on the bottom of the fridge and the other snug in a box.
The second photo was also processed in June 1968 and features a younger couple dressed up for something. Maybe it's Easter or a wedding or they just got out of church.
The third and last photo was processed in August 1965 and shows what appears to be an extended family out by a lake. I don't think they'll all fit in that canoe though. There have been several photos in past sets featuring the same canoe with various combinations of peoples standing in front of it.

That's really wild looking into the lives of other people without any real context. I think this would be a lot of fun to try to figure out what it is that you are actually looking at. It does seem odd to me that people would just throw things like this out though.
Sometimes I find some pretty interesting stuff. Like once there was a picture of a boat and I could see the name of it. I googled the name and went down a whole rabbit hole where I found out the history (58' boat originally built in 1951 for U.S. Wildlife Services, later given to Alaska, later sold and refurbished, later sold again and is still used today in Alaska by private owners for charter adventure and research cruises. That's really wild dude! I can see that being a lot of fun as well as a lot of mystery involved.
