My fashion sense
Hello hivers, I find it amusing enough to talk to you about my fashion sense as it is one of the prompt topics for this week on Hivenaija.
First of all, I needed to google out the term “fashion sense”. Does that look funny? Maybe. It’s funny how we can’t define some of the everyday terms we use.

From my research, fashion sense is the natural Ability of a person to combine clothings, accessories, and style them in different ways to become aesthetically pleasing to others. It’s a nice way to define it but I already have a problem with the cool definition as opposed to “natural”.
I believe fashion sense can be learnt and improved upon. So it shouldn’t be assumed to be a natural ability. But then, once you become aware of your fashion sense and you work toward improvement, it becomes a natural ability over time.
For the longest time, my mom has actually been my designer. Since she is into clothing and sells them, all I have to do is notify her on what I want and she does get it for me. My fashion sense doesn’t involve societal trends as I love to have a timeless appearance when it comes to being fashionable. So I don’t join trends and most times, it becomes very hard as people tend to think you aren’t fashionable enough or you are outdated in your dressing. But then, great clothing combinations are supposed to be timeless.

Culturally I love traditional wear, there is a way they bring out the aesthetic in you as they make you more fashionable. This is especially noticeable when you are fully clothed also with the traditional cap. Culture has it in Yoruba that you aren’t complete if you aren’t when the cap.I just love the traditional dress so much. They bring out a sense of aura in you without force. They also elevate your age, face and technical know-how in dressing.
Societal trend calls a good looking Yoruba man in a traditional dress “Yoruba demon”. It’s because women find a man more appealing dressed in such. When it comes to wearing the conventional English dress as it is known, I love to keep things simple. Just a Jean and a shirt.
Although I favor a shirt over a T-shirt or round-neck as it is known. It’s my default dress when I’m going out. My dress sense is a way of how I see myself. I'm very easygoing, I am not flashy in style and I’m also simple. This goes deep into how I dress up to occasions. I understand how you dress is how you will be addressed, so anytime I dress, I know it will reflect my personality. https://img.inleo.io/DQmSAYP4Fq51CfFF2QrKWG5LLaGEkyJfTZsD3vyTEeaJSY9/1D2321B9-0FE9-4E6D-92C3-83D99B981CDB.webp
One of my oldest clothes is a traditional dress which I sewed to celebrate my mom’s birthday in 2019.I love it so much because the tailor got my exact measurement, it’s firm on my body and nicely fitted. One clothing you will never find in my wardrobe is anything tagged “crazy”.Especially crazy jeans, I have never owned them. Never! I find it very irritating when I see people wear it and then the large tear. But well it’s fashion and our sense of it differs, so I can understand.

Heyyyy... I was expecting more pictures brooo, mom is doing pretty well and if she's the one that made that abagba, tell her she's amazing 😍
Yes, you are right. Fashion sense can be learnt and improved on. I don't know how to combine dressing when it comes to making myself up before and gradually, I learnt that. But some people are just talented in that aspect.
Dressing simple has always been my goal and nothing more. You see that crazy Jean too? Not my thing!
You look amazing in that traditional outfit and yes, rocking native dresses bring the beauty in us out more.
A great piece, I love your glasses. You have a great taste.

I wanted to scroll pass your post but ọmọ...the agbada caught my attention. Maybe it's because I'm into male clothing.
The colour and the fit, everything just dey, the glasses nkọ, ayaaaa... 🔥
Normally, you're a fine man so simple dresses will look good on you but I was expecting more pictures 😢
I've never been a fan of trends as well, I just don't bend to it naturally. Any dress with many details gives me headache.
You look handsome.
Let me check the picture once again and gerarahere.
😁
Timeless... That's a good one, fashion should be timeless. No need to follow trends, they come and go.
So mum didn't sew the one you wore for her birthday haha. I dislike ragged wears too.
