Interesting Trip to Da Lat - The City Without Traffic Lights
When it comes to famous tourist destinations in Vietnam, it is remiss if we ignore Da Lat city. Da Lat is located on Lam Vien plateau and is the highest in the Central Highlands (1500m above sea level). Da Lat is a city with a cool climate all year round. If you move from Nha Trang city to Da Lat, you can easily feel the rapidly changing climate when you reach the middle of Khanh Le pass.
According to my research, there are quite a few explanations for the name Da Lat, but the opinion that most people support is: When discovering this dreamy, fanciful city, the people who have contributed to building the city created a Latin phrase “DAT ALLIIS LAETITIUM ALLIIS TEMPERRIEM” which means “give these people joy, give health to others”. If you are observant, you will realize that the first 5 letters of this sentence combined are DALAT.
Da Lat - The city without traffic lights
An interesting point when it comes to Dalat is that it is the only city in Vietnam that does not have traffic lights. You didn't get it wrong, it's true 🙂. The reason for the absence of traffic lights is because the terrain in Da Lat is mostly steep, if you stop at a red light in the middle of the slope, it will be dangerous for traffic. Instead of traffic lights, in Da Lat you will see more signs and roundabouts, which have done a great job of regulating traffic at intersections 5 and 6 smoothly without any traffic congestion.
Until now, I still don't know why I love Da Lat, only know that at least once a year, it's a meeting place for my family and the family of my close friends. Or when friends from far away visit, we often invite each other to make a trip to Da Lat.
What does Dalat have? 🤗
Cau Dat tea hill (Cau Dat farm)
Cau Dat tea hill in Da Lat is a tourist destination located on the outskirts of the city. About 20 km from Dalat city center. The scene is peaceful and majestic with green tea hills in succession. If you come to Da Lat, remember to visit here.
In addition to green tea, Cau Dat is also famous for Cau Dat coffee. I heard that the coffee grown in Cau Dat will taste completely different and superior to coffee grown in other lands due to the special soil and high climate of this region.
Well, a note is that when coming to Cau Dat tea hill, you must definitely try the baked sweet potato here. Baked sweet potatoes are everywhere around Da Lat city, but I find the taste here is the best and freshest. 🙂
Pongour Falls
Pongour Waterfall is about 50km south of Da Lat city on National Highway 2. Pongour waterfall is about 50m high, and divided into 7 cascades, looks like a beautiful woman's hair from afar. Those big rocks on the cascades make the water splash white. The best time to visit Pongour waterfall is from September to October with sunny weather and a lot of water from the source.
Cherry blossom roads
Well, Da Lat is known as the city of thousands of flowers - flowers are everywhere. I especially like the roads in Da Lat in September and October because at this time the cherry blossoms on both sides of the road are in full bloom. Walking on the path of pink flowers in cold weather is so romantic.
Fruit-laden persimmon trees grow in the pine forest
I have a happiness with fruits, especially the fruit that is on the tree. When I was on a motorbike on the road, I told my husband that if he saw a persimmon tree laden with fruit on the side of the road, he would have to stop for me to take pictures.
And tada, I've got pictures of me standing by a persimmon tree laden with fruit, and with a contented smile on my face.
“Let's go to Da Lat”
"Let's go to Da Lat" - We still say that to each other when we discuss plans to go out. Well, just Da Lat. Da Lat gives me so many interesting things that every time I go there, I feel like I have refreshed myself.
If you've never been to Da Lat, give it a try for a few days and you'll fall in love with Da Lat - just like us.
Aiguu... at the end of the post, I'm still feeling lightheaded like I'm walking on the road around Xuan Huong Lake, eating grilled rice paper. Da Lat, see you soon.
I miss it too.
