Chawal chola *rice with cheakpeas
Assalamualaikum everyone I hope Everyone is well and good. Sunday is a creative Sunday
This is my first time that I am participating for Creative-Sunday .As on Sunday everyone feels free of work. But I was boring So I decided to cook something for my family
Chawal chola
Chawal chola, also known as chole chawal, is a traditional Punjabi dish of plain rice with chickpeas.
How to make?
First of all cut 2 onions then put some oil
And cook it untill the onions get brown
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds.
- Add onions, garlic, and ginger. Saute until onions are translucent.
- Add tomatoes, coriander powder, garam masala powder, and amchur powder (if using). Saute for 2-3 minutes.
- Add cooked chickpeas, salt, and water. Mix well.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
Chawal (Rice)
Ingredients:
- 1 cup uncooked white or brown rice
- 2 cups water
- Salt, to taste
- Rinse rice in a fine mesh sieve until water runs clear.
- In a medium saucepan, combine rice and water.
- Add salt to taste.
- Bring to a boil over high heat.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until water is absorbed and rice is cooked.
Serve Chola over Chawal and enjoy!
Note: You can adjust the amount of spices and seasonings to your taste. Additionally, you can add other ingredients like potatoes, carrots, or peas to the Chola if you prefer.
