The 🐀 game is back 🗺️

The headliner for the free PS Plus Essential titles in January 2024 is none other than A Plague Tale: Requiem. I was very patient with getting my hands on this game and my patience has finally paid off. I loved the original game, which I also obtained for free thanks to my PS Plus membership. It was so good that I took the time to get the platinum trophy.

A Plague Tale: Requiem is an action-adventure game developed by Asobo Studio and published by Focus Home Interactive. Requiem is a sequel to the critically acclaimed A Plague Tale: Innocence. The original game, released in 2019, told the story of Amicia and her brother Hugo as they navigated a plague-infested medieval France.

Building on the success of its predecessor, Requiem continues the gripping narrative, exploring the dark and atmospheric world plagued by supernatural forces and hordes of relentless rats. The game maintains the blend of stealth, puzzle-solving, and emotional storytelling that made the first installment a standout experience. The use of the Swarm Engine, which allows for the realistic rendering of thousands of rats on screen, plays a significant role in creating a haunting and immersive atmosphere.

Requiem is a continuation of the thematic elements related to the deadly plague, and players can expect to face new challenges as they guide characters through the treacherous landscape. A successfully builds on the foundation of its predecessor, offering players a dark and emotionally charged adventure with engaging gameplay mechanics and a compelling narrative.

I had to jump into Requiem to get my first impressions, but I now have close to 10 different games downloaded to my SSD that I wish to complete. There just isn't enough time in a day to play all of them. From where Requiem is so focused on the story, I feel like I am going to either have to commit to finishing it now or not play any more of it until I have some of my other games finished.

This is a hell of a game and you can tell right away as soon as you see these gorgeous visuals. It expands on the greatness of Innocence and doesn't fail in any way. If you liked the first game, you must play this amazing sequel.
