Gods Unchained - New cards in the Sanctum, it is a literal gamechanger!

This is my fourth Gods Unchained post in a row, and in a very short time as well. All I can say is that it was not planned to be like that. And I can let you know a little secret. There is one more Gods Unchained post at least coming in the very near future. =) It is just the way the cookie crumbles or however you want to say it.

The new cards

I have given it a few games before typing this post, mostly so I have some hands-on experience with the new sanctum. I have to say first of all I am very much in favor of a change like this. I think it is an excellent way of freshening up the game. Adding some new wrinkles to the smooth gameplay if you will. They pretty much could have put any new cards in and I would have thought it be a good change. Not necessarily due to the cards being better. But simply because it changes things up. Keeping the game feeling fresh.

Let us take a look at some of the cards that I think will have a bigger impact than others. The first one on the list is Gleamweaver. This is a very big deal to now have this card be a possibility to show up in any game. This means that decks like the fan favorite Anubians most likely will run into more trouble and they now will have to play around this card a little more than before. The same will go for some combo decks and echo caster decks. As this is a card often needed but one you rarely are able to fit into your deck.

Another card I think that is a good addition is the Svart Basilisk, Svart by the way is Swedish for Black as I know at least one person out there does not already know about that nugget of knowledge. ;) I think this card is a very good utility card as it does a little of everything. Relic removal, sleep removal, and have a 4/4 creature tagging along with the utility. However, if you were relying on relic removal solely from the sanctum, this will now cost 1 mana more to play than the previous card. And it will only remove one charge on the relic. This means that Relics might see a slightly increased viability. At least in ranks without Eiko. And sleep decks should have to play around it whenever it shows up in the sanctum.

New Sanctum cards

The Trail Begins is another very interesting card that I think will be one of those highly contested cards. If nothing else because you do not want your opponent to have it. It lets the player pull any creature that belongs to their god from their deck. I think it will be especially useful for the late game if you are in a top-deck war.

The four cards in the Removal Category are also cards I think are a nice way to include cards rarely seen. But cards that still have good utility. And I recommend you take a look at them so you know what can pop up in your games in the future.

The last thing I want to draw your attention to is that the cost of the cards is vastly different from the previous selection. They now range from 10 Favours for the Lootable Corps to a massive 30 Favours for the Imperious Smite. And quite a few of them are priced at around 20 Favour. I have included the link to the post showing all the cards, what they do, and more importantly, what their Favour cost will be. The link can be found at the bottom of the post.

But I would very much like to hear what your thoughts are on the changes, are you in favor of them or did you like it the way it was? Please let me know your thoughts and reasons in the comment section below.

I have really been enjoying the new sanctum and it has breathed some new life into the game. It can also help balance out some of those who keep summoning monsters back from the void... Gleamweaver was first on my mind for that aswell! Thanks for the overview, I didn't see that.

Same here, I think it was a very good change and one I think they could have made some time back to keep the game fresh.

Indeed, and I agree, it is a literal game-changer, since it took effect I have to change my deck and play style.

Nice to hear, I have not changed any deck yet myself but might very well do so in the near future =)
