25 Days and Counting...
Day 25. Who knew I could make it this far? It is the 25th of January today and this is my 25th straight day of posting an article. My "effort" goals for the year include getting the @HiveBuzz badge for posting every day in a month, and also acquiring 13 of the "Weekly Author" badges. I started the year with one so I need to end with at least 14. Considering, as I said, that I've only managed to do the weekly once in the five years I've been here, these seem like pretty good goals. So far, so good.
But I'm starting to run out of material. lol I've been winging it so far and have done okay, but I've also discovered I need some structure or I'm destined to fail. To that end, I've come up with a couple solid ideas that at least give me some relief on thinking too hard about content.
For all you married folks out there, is there anything worse than the question between you and your spouse of, "What are we going to eat tonight?" lol It drives my wife crazy and then when she puts it back on me I can safely say I don't like it either. I mean, it shouldn't be that hard, right? There's fast food, kits that we buy every week, frozen pizza, mac and cheese, take-out, the options are endless. So why is it always such a stressor to figure it out?
The same is true with writing. I mean, literally, the options are endless. So why can it be so hard to figure out what to write about? Once I get started, I usually have no problem fleshing out an idea, it's just finding the idea that's the hard part.
So one thing I've done is given myself a couple of weekly topics I write about on certain days. Topics I enjoy but that don't necessarily add to the collective knowledge of LeoFinance or Hive.
The first is "Splinterlands Saturday". Every Saturday I just write a post about what's going on in Splinterlands and what I'm doing in the game. There's enough going on every week that the content can be new and different while at the same time, I don't have to spend hours wracking my brain trying to come up with things to say.
The second is "Sportstalk Sunday". For many of us, myself included, sports is a passion both to watch and play. This platform doesn't get nearly enough sports-related content, in my opinion, so I go to the SportsTalkSocial front-end and write a post from there. I'm not getting any Leo for it because unless I talk about the financial side of sports, it doesn't have anything to do with crypto or finance, but it's fun, there's a ton to write about, and again, I don't have to think too hard about coming up with a topic.
There are also a couple other benefits that come from doing things like this. First, it gives you lots of practice writing. Even though I'm not necessarily giving out financial tips or ideas for posting, I'm still using my creative juices to write an article.
Second, it expands your audience. Believe it or not, there is a large population of people here on Hive who never use LeoFinance. Like, never. Those of us here everyday probably don't see that because most of us never use anything else. We see it's potential and usefulness and think everybody should be here. But it doesn't work that way.
There are many, many people who only do #Actifit, or post pictures, or talk #CineTV, or play games, or chat about food, etc, etc. Posting occasional articles in other areas can not only reach people who would normally not see you, but it can also potentially bring them into Leo. Maybe they like what you have to say and follow you and the next thing you know, they're threading away.
So, I'm now 25 days in. Only six more to go for that monthly badge. I need to figure out another topic or two I can do on certain days. Like I said, I have no problem writing the articles for the weekend. Good or bad, at least I always know what I'll be writing about. For me, the hard part is coming up with the topic, which is why I try to read and comment as much as I can every day as that usually gives me ideas of my own to write about.
Anyone else have some good tips on where they get ideas for posts? I can use all the help I can get. :-)
Thanks for reading.
Hive is the Way.

First thing- why are you posting this early in the morning? :P
Second - for Wednesdays, talk about what you want to do on Hive and share your goals :D Oops that was easy.
I think we don't need to be on @leofinance all the time. We are in our own bubble when we talk about crypto here. It is fun and we almost know each other on this platform. Having said that, I don't want to be talking about the same thing over and over again. it is fun to read @edicted posts but I also want to browse pictures on @liketu by @dojeda. I follow soccer posts by few authors and post on @actifit as well. Even then, I do not have topics to post for some days in the week :)
I actually wrote this post yesterday and scheduled for early morning. 6:30AM here. Yes, as I write more I'm slowly figuring out different things to do. There's just so much available on Hive it's hard to get everything done. Especially with the games. Splinterlands, dCrops, dCity, all take up some time and then there are three or four more I'd like to get involved with but just don't have the time. I'll have to do some more exploring to find a couple other areas I can contribute to once a week or something.
Congrats on the 25 days of posting. Keep it up! Take it one at a time and you'll be surprised by how far you can reach. I'm up to 600 something days now. It would be 1200+, but some personal events screwed up that streak in my 3rd year. So it goes.
Some structure is good. I have a few posts I try to do weekly (haiku post, photo post, weekly review post). Then I have a notebook full of ideas for me to write about on the other days. Whenever I find myself thinking about something for more than a few seconds, that idea goes in the notebook. Then later when I look through the notebook I may end up crossing out a lot of the ideas, but I still have plenty to spark posts with. You might try something like that.
Whenever my wife asks me what should we eat, my answer is always ramen. She rarely wants to take the time to make good ramen, so then she defaults to miso soup and something stir-fry. Haha. And that's fine by me too, so it's all good.
600! That's amazing. I doubt I'll get that far but we'll see. Talk to me in 2 years. lol
Yes, I probably need to find a couple more communities I can contribute to once a week or so. Like I said, I usually don't have a problem writing about something once I know what that something is. It's coming up with the idea that seems to be the hard part. Broadening my topic range would probably help that.
haha. well, like I said, just a day at a time.
Come to think of it, this itself is a great topic for a post. What to write about. I'll add it to my queue!
Looking over some of the communities for ideas is a great idea. The Rant community is usually a pretty good one for that.
I'm beginning to realize that too lol, we live in a sort of bubble here at Leofinance. There's a bigger Hive community out there. I'm planning on branching to other communities in the near future but haven't decided which ones yet.
As for posting everyday, my advice would be to keep it simple and don't think much about it. Ideas could come from previous post you've already posted, like exploring another angle or dimension on the topic you posted. I usually do this when I can't think of something new to write about.
Yeah, it really is a sort bubble here. There are literally hundreds of posts all over Hive I never see because I'm basically on Leo and threads all the time. I really think these other communities need to start using threads....which is a great idea for my post for tomorrow! Thank you! See? Comments work. :-)
Very true! I think there needs to be a synergy between Leofinance and other Hive communities.... Just like that lol. You're most welcome :). Looking forward to it.
hey heres some #DBUZZ30 challenges which can give you up to 150 more days worth of Content possibly

Are those considered posts? Even on dbuzz, which only allows 280 words?
Honestly dont know , was just trying to ease the hardness of getting content ideas. Im sure they are the beginings of a post that will get to the threshold needed for the badges if you expand on them

Way to go on the posting!! I think that is 24 more than I have ever done.
I feel ya on the what are we gonna eat discussion. So painful and nearly a 3-4 times per week event. You could probably do a whole post on that one if you really get to marinating on it :-)

Haha!! You feel my pain. I knew there were more of us out there. lol Definitely a great topic for a post. It wouldn't really be LeoFinance material but I'm sure I could find another community to post it in that would appreciate it. :-)
Could always relate it to how much money you spend eating out or on junk food. Then bring it back around to how planning meals ahead of time would save money and emotional stress from the awkward no you...no you :-)
Something like that.

I'm struggling to put more than 2 posts per week but seeing a fellow member going for 1 post per day, it's truly fascinating! Good luck and hope you'll be able to achieve the Monthly Author Badge!
I would be great if you could summerize your posts rewards after the end of your challenge, it'll surely encourage a lot of people like myself to put up a similar challenge/goal !
I was planning on doing exactly that. It will be interesting to see the results. I already get to see them day to day as my HP and HBD continue to grow. It's fun when the week turns over and rewards keep coming in even as I'm putting out new articles. You can grow pretty quickly.
Maybe you can consider taking a post you read about and try to make a response about it. You can leave that for a topic that requires more thought. It won't happen all the time but I think it does work out. Also, you can consider some goals for the year and make a weekly/monthly update on how well you are doing on them.

Yeah, I've done that a few times. I think I just need to find a couple more communities I can get involved in so I can post something there. These are good ideas and I plan on doing the updates as well, but I want to try and find a "weekly" topic I can use. Like I said, it will probably be like CineTV or something else I enjoy talking about.
