Curator Cat: Caturday Extravaganza of Kitten and Cat Photos!
Greetings, Fabulous Felines and Hoomans of Hivelandia and outlying communities!
Welcome to the weekend, and welcome to another Caturday update... Caturday is definitely my favorite day of the week, although pretty much all days around here could be described as Caturday!
Our newest family members: Lala (left) and Shangri
Well, it has certainly been a week of change and activity around here as we have welcomed Shangri and Lala to our home!
In case you haven't seen the last few updates, Shangri and Lala are two (about) four or five month old kittens the Hoomans met at our local animal shelter, earlier this week.
Lala, posing prettily
They are a little bit shy and skittish — to be expected, after spending six weeks at the shelter — but they are quickly relaxing as it sinks in that the next Hooman through the door is only bringing love and food, and they are not coming to put them in a cage.
Pretty boy!
Both are very sweet natured, and even as they come out of their difficult early life, they have had nothing but "velvet paws" when they play and are picked up.
So far, the Hoomans have let them have their own room for most of the time — just so they can settle down — and they have only met us resident Felines with "adult supervision."
Who are you?
I have spent some time visiting them in their space, and all went well. There were no thick tales and hissing, just quiet curiosity... with a good bit of rolling over and exposed bellies.
So, it looks like we are well on our way to everybody becoming friends!
I see you have toys!
Both of them are quite photogenic, so the Hoomans have been spending a lot of time photographing them and documenting these early days as they settle in.
But they are also making sure we older cats get plenty of love and playtime, so we don't feel left out and neglected.

The Hoomans think everybody will be ready to roam the house together freely within maybe 7-10 days, and that should be fun.
Since they seem quite sweet, I am looking forward to having "Crazy Kitty Hour" late at night with them! After all, Smudge is pretty old and doesn't really do a lot of running, anymore.
You seem friendly!
This weekend is a public holiday weekend here in the USA, so the Hoomans will be home all the time for three days to celebrate an "extended" Caturday weekend!
In the not too distant future it will be very fun to see how three Felines interact with the Hoomans' creative projects, which are scattered around the house!
Shangri, the hunter!
But to get back to our new housemates, Shangri is the boy cat.
He's a soft yellow-orange with white, and is quite long and lanky, with rather large paws, so we think he's going to end up becoming a fairly large cat.
Almost camo
His tail is showing signs of becoming slightly bushy, so there's a chance he's going to grow up to become a medium haired cat.
His facial structure suggests that this litter had at least some Maine Coon cat in their background, although we don't really know much about their origins, other than they were a litter of five brought in, born to an indoor-outdoor semi barn cat mother at a local farm.
"I'm just inspecting your condo!
As his personality starts to show, he is definitely curious and very sweet natured, and starts to purr as soon as anyone gets close to him... even if he has been a little hesitant to be touched and picked up.
Lala loves toys, too!
Lala — who has since been telling us that her name is actually Nala — is a very pretty calico girl cat, of about middling size.
She's got your basic short haired fur, and very pretty markings.
Pretty kitty!
The Hoomans are being quite patient with the whole process, and are quite prepared to let the whole "getting integrated" process happen at it's own natural pace.
The kittens, as mentioned, are quickly growing more comfortable here, and we'd like to think that everyone has "won the cat lottery!"
Bookends
Because she is quite old, we're being quite gentle with Smudge... she has been nose-to-nose with the kittens through a baby gate, but so far that is all.
Once everyone reaches a higher level of familiarity and comfort, we'll let more "free roaming" happen!
Smudge
And that's about it, for this Caturday update... which is the longest we have every done, with the most photos!
Of course, there will be lots more to come, as we continue to document these young Felines' new life!
Just getting used to becoming "Uncle Shadow!"
We appreciate you stopping by our cat blog, and hope your Caturday was a great one! We also wish you a great remainder of your weekend!

Love Cats? Get Involved in Hive's Cat Communities!
If you're a cat lover and often/sometimes post pictures or other content that includes your feline friends, why not become an active part of Hive's growing Cat Communities?
These are some of the more active Cat Communities — why not join them ALL? Many of the allow you to share your cat posts, even if you started at a different community!
HiveCats by @curatorcat is a central "gathering place" for cat content on Hive; promoting the use of the #hivecats tag for feline content!
Cat Snaps by @manorvillemike is a place to post pictures of your cats when you don't have a whole lot to say beyond just sharing your cute photos!
Caturday by @saboin is a community where we get to celebrate posts relating to Saturday — aka "Caturday" — our own special day!
Cat Photos by @andrarchy is a "mixed use" cat content community; posts can be just photos or longer, as long as the subject is CATS!
Cats by @captainklaus (and Sissi!) is another "general" cat content community.
There are a number of other feline communities listed on Hive, but I am not sharing them for now as they have not had any activity (by their Admins OR users) since the Steem/Hive fork. Updates as they become available!

Cute 😍
Thank you!
When my Sammi Jo entered our lives and I am sure you know the story as I have posted it here many times.
We were not prepared. Sammi was totally unplanned. We still had two 17 year old cats. The stress this @krazzy-kitty caused way back then was so unfair to our original OG cats.
Love the fact that you have it planned and your hoomans are "cat people"
We look back on our mistakes of throwing this krazzy kitten into the mix back then and stressing the old cats.
We should have done it like your doing with Smudge.
The whole thing was fairly well planned, ahead of time. The exact timing wasn't, of course... that the shelter was suddenly running their "rapid adoption program" (half price adoptions or get two for the price of one) was completely unexpected.
We'd actually seen this litter (of 5, as I recall) on the shelter web site, but it wasn't time, at the time. That two of them were still there — and that they happened to be the two we WOULD have asked to adopt — was just a surprise, after six weeks.
Evidently, they were the last two because they were the most skittish in the litter. People go for "friendly" kittens. Curator Cat was also hiding in the background when we adopted him... and he's one of the sweetest natured cats we've known... and these two seem to to be following that pattern, as they start to emerge from their "shells."
Hopefully the "soft intro" we're doing with Smudge will help everyone be friends. So far, so good!

❤️
Congrats with the new friends!
Thank you! They seem to be settling in well.

Those 2 kittens certainly won the lottery! They are real pretty cats and it looks like everyone will get on well.
