Curator Cat in the Cryptosphere: Looking for my Lost Sense of Enthusiasm!

There is a lot of advice in our world that in order to get ahead we're supposed to stay positive.

Be that as it may, that's not always an easy thing to do. In particular, it can be quite a challenge to stay positive when it seems like pretty much everything you do and touch or try to do end up going sideways or going down the tubes.

Of course, that might be a bit of an exaggeration.

What's making me have these thoughts is the recent — and ongoing — meltdown in the crypto markets... again.

Like many who have been part of this gig for a long time, I expect the turbulence will blow over and we'll get back to some semblance of normal soon. That said it seems like the downturns have been considerably more frequent than the upturns in recent years. But what is "normal," anyway?

As I have said before, I'm here for the long term, so I'm not really too worried about it right now. That is, I'm not too worried about it on a short-term personal level.

The Point of Worry...

What does worry me a little bit is how this latest set of events — and many others like them — plays out in the minds of the greater public out there... whom allegedly we are very interested in getting to be more friendly towards — and part of — the Cryptosphere.

How will they really respond if all the news coming out of the Cryptosphere is one scandal after another; one problem after another? Moreover, it seems to me that whereas a number of people have made overnight millions, crypto is no closer to the currency end of the equation than it was a decade ago.

Sometimes I also have my doubts as to how far we're really going to be able to progress with cryptocurrency as a worldwide concept as long as we exist in a situation where something the likes of Elon Musk tweets is capable of triggering the shedding 15% of the value of an entire asset group.

Regardless of whether that may be the tangible truth or not, most people looking in from the outside is going to look at that and say "I don't think I want to be part of anything that is that extremely risky and volatile."

And therein lies a good part of the problem that we are facing. Every time this kind of garbage goes on it's not so much about whether some people lost money (or not) because that's taking a very narrow point of view, it's about the broader perspective of how does this affect the overall image and positioning of cryptocurrency in the world in general.

And that's what's eating Curator Cat on this fine Sunday night.

I'm not claiming to have any answers to this... but I fear cryptocurrency has a long way to go before the "average person" is going to have much interest in touching this!

What's more, it's a situation we, ourselves created by being more concerned with "Wen Moon?" than wtih actually building something tangible and sustainable for the future.

I guess only time will tell where we land...

Thanks for visiting, and till the next one!
